Just Curious----What Is Your Favorite Hotel Brand

With so many choices and prices, I was just wondering who prefers what. When I flew, more often than not, I was booked at a Holiday Inn nearest to the airport. We never received credit for the stay because the airline picked up the tab. I pay for all of my stays now and I prefer Holiday Inn Express or Hampton Inn. Although nothing to write home about, the free breakfast and the fitness rooms where I can at least get on a treadmill are important to me. Some folks just want a TV, shower and a comfortable bed and that is also fine.

I know for most and myself included, price is always an issue. I also consider what part of the city I am staying in and also safety is important. Inside rooms are always safer than outside rooms. I don't need a Hilton or Sheraton. IMO, they are over-priced.

Motel 6 if its in a decent, safe location.
All Im doing there is sleeping, showering and watching TV,what else do I need?

I'm with Davey. Those "free" breakfasts are expensive. I'd much rather eat breakfast in a restaurant. The worst breakfast I ever had in a restaurant was better than the best breakfast I ever had in a motel. And I got to order what I wanted.

What more could you want beside a little box of stale Frosted Flakes and fresh (old) bananas? :p

The only motel/hotel I won't stay in is the one with bedbugs. I can deal with thieves, pimps and druggies, but not bedbugs.

Comfort Inn. I don't give a rip about breakfast, but they have The. Best. Pillows. As a matter of fact, their pillows are so great, that on one trip, DH and I asked at the desk if we could buy two pillows! Yes. At the time, they were $10 each. I imagine that they're somewhat more spendy now.

I like Holiday Inn the best. Why? Cuz they used to hold on the Star Trek conventions in one of two Holiday Inns here in Denver. So its more connected with the fun that went with those events...rather than just the hotel itself. Always had good service and the restaurant food was reasonably priced...

Comfort Inn because they accept small dogs at NO charge..
Breakfast isn't all that great but they do fill up the hole in my stomach...

I am a member of Choice Hotels and I have accumulated enough points for a free night which I took last month..
I also have enough points for another free night coming up next month...

They have very clean rooms, polite, well priced, and their location is just perfect for us....

But unless you inspected that bedding ,you have no idea if those bugs are in there or not.
First time in room, strip down everything on the bed to the mattress and pack a bug spray with you.
I alway bring my own pillow.
It makes no sense to complain about it,if they give you another room then you have to start all over again.

True, all true, but I shouldn't HAVE to do all that - that's what I'm paying THEM for.

Don't mind me ... I just had a really bad experience with bedbugs once.

I spend around 150 nights/year in hotels. Most of the time, I stay in Wyndam owned (Days Inn or Super 8) properties. Yes, just like the other posters, I get free nights as points are accumulated. I also have a Choice card. One of my recent projects didn't have a decent Wyndam property close, but had a Quality Inn & Suites... a Choice facility. I stayed there long enough to get a couple free nights.

Ameriscot, I've spent some happy (business) times in Newport RI. Stayed at Marriott and Doubletree. At the Residence inn in Middletown, you'll only be a short walk (if anyone there walks) from the Coddlington Brewing co. (on Coddlington Hwy). Had some great meals there and beer from their in-house micro brewery. Enjoy your visit.

I really like Marriott and I've stayed hundreds of nights in them. I've still got a stack of marriott reward points. Never cared much for Hilton - I found them a bit sterile. Here in the UK there are a number of budget brands and I use 'Premier Inn' from time to time. Good rooms, but their food is very variable and breakfast is over-priced.

Thanks! My brother has lived in Newport for about 30 years. Unfortunately, he has no room for 3 extra people in his house. So sister, hubby and I are staying in a two bedroom Marriott for 6 nights. We'll be in Middletown though as Newport itself is just too expensive. I'm sure we'll find that brewing co. as well as many others as 3 of us are craft beer lovers and the other doesn't drink. So we've got a built in designated driver. :)

We never eat the Ibis or Premier Inn breakfasts but go to the nearest Wetherspoons for breakfast.

We love to stay at the Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport before an early flight. Their breakfasts aren't cheap but they are good.

Capt, just looked up Coddington Brewing and they are 1/2 mile from our hotel in Middletown. Nice beer selection as well!
