LOL i know we're middle aged....I didn't want to rub it in to all the oldies...LOL>...just jokin' folks...well almost... :lol1:

Old?! Old?! Who you calling old?! ;) Actually I've decided that I'm still upper middle aged and when I'm 70 might be a senior. 90 could be elderly depending on your attitude.

LOL it's true I'm sure we all know people who are 'young' but act old and Vicky verky..there's a lady who works at my place and she and I are the same age, but everyone thinks she's 20 years older because of the way she dresses and her general attitude.

Oh, aye. I've known many people who are old at 40, and some who've been young at 90+.

My final job before I retired was a part-time carer for those in sheltered housing. I had some of the same clients for the entire 3 years I did that job, so I felt they were like family. I loved hearing stories about life in the old days in Scotland or England. One of them was 92 but you'd think she was in her 70's. Back trouble was why she needed some help with housework. Otherwise, sharp as a tack and very active. Just loved taking her on outings.

Another who was in her 90's used to tell me stories about life in Glasgow during the war. She loved how I'd say 'nae bother, hen', telling me I was becoming proper Scottish. :D

LOL...I would love to hear an American saying ''Nae borra Hen''... that would be hillarious!!

..but yes I agree ...I spent a lot of time with my granny and her friends when I was young in Glasgow, and ultimately grew to like and respect my elders far more than I did my peers and I honestly wished I could be old so I could be with 'nice' people..isn't that sad...but it's true.. ...

....that's why at 28 I'm among you all now.. :lofl:

28?!!! Haha, don't hurt yourself laughing!

I've always enjoyed being around older people. There was nothing funnier than listening to my grandmother and two of her sisters sit around and reminisce.

Penny, as one who is the same age as you, here's some advice: Never think of yourself as "old." My philosophy is that old age is a state of mind. Some people are "old" at 40, others are young at 90. It has nothing to do with your chronological age.

Enjoy life, particularly enjoy your loving family, and get immersed as much as you can in the world around you. You'd be surprised how many people are actively engaged with the world, all the way up into their 90's!

Welcome to the forum; this is a fun and very interesting group of people.

Welcome to the forum Penny, hope that you will enjoy it.It's such a shame that some people feel bad about being older, why should we?It means we have lived. Some don't get the chance to be old. It's a time of life to either do more things, if you have the energy and the cash, and if not, to at least take things a bit easier, read more, see your friends more, even watch tv or listen to the radio more.Think about things.

Penny, although I have joined after you....just need to add to everyone else's support. Enjoy this extra time we have been fortunate enough to have been given. I can so relate to your frustration...with all the deterrents life has thrown at you....I am even older than you, have all the nasty health conditions you have ....plus, more. Even though our darn bodies keep betraying us, reminding us otherwise... we need to remain young inside...interested in the world and what it has to offer us. Despite the pain and physical limitations......wake up smiling at each new day he has given us...laugh, love, live and enjoy. For we are truly blessed....

Many thanks again for your welcoming messages.

I'm struggling with some issues (as we all are, I know), and I need to get it right.

So I'm heading over to the Family and Relationships forum, hoping someone can give me some objective advice.

Please forgive me if I change my mind, and try to figure it out myself, I'm very hesitant about this.

Greetings Penny--------Age wise I will shudder with you. How about a bit of profile info from you.
