JUST HEARD McDONALDS ARE HOME DELIVERING

Okay then, I'm in the ball park on my tip. Order is around $12.00 so $3.00 is just over 20%. While we are on the subject, do you feel it is necessary to tip the person who may serve your coke, coffee, etc. at a buffet? I see most people don't but there is always a few that leave a buck on the table.

Oddly enough, I can't recall a buffet I've ever been to where the waiter served the drinks - it was always self-serve.

If they did serve them, it wouldn't hurt to kick a buck. I know a lot of people would argue about that, but I never understood how people can have the money to go out and eat a big meal and spend big bucks on it, then stiff the wait staff.

A Chinese restaurant we used to go to served the drinks. It's the only buffet I know of that does.

I'm reasonably generous with tips but I don't go by percentage of the cost of the meal. I've eaten breakfast where the food was less than $10 and the waitress was very friendly and worked her tail off. And I've been to a nice restaurant where the bill came to $75 and the waitress, while friendly, didn't do much at all.

The breakfast waitress will get the bigger tip from me.

While were on the subject of tips, a restaurant that automatically adds a tip to the bill will never see me again.

I don't usually go by percentage, either - I agree that it's the level of service that's important. But if you ARE going to leave a tip and if you're concerned about what convention says, then percentages become a bit more important.

I totally forgot about the Chinese buffets serving the tea and bringing the Cokes - that's how long it's been since I've gone to one of them.
