Just waiting...

Good afternoon to all- Well, the van is packed about as full as it can go. I've got my travel funds arranged, and all- I hope- of the banking and other business done to close out here. Tomorrow morning very early I head west to Phoenix.Easiest navigation for a major trip I've ever done.Get on I-10 and go west. 25 hours later, I'll be in Phoenix.
Of course, I have to make it through Houston, and that's like trying to get a popsicle through hell.
I hate waiting- always have. But I'm too tired to make a start today. Tomorrow will have to do.
Talk you all on the flip side- Ed

Have a safe journey, Ed. Rest up and go with the flo, that's what us retired folk do!

It is 2000 miles from here to PHX. We have made the run along I-10 several times. Once we turned off of I-10 and stopped in Columbus NM, which is where Pancho Villa raided back in 1916. What was then the site of the US Army camp is now a state park/campground. If you go down to the border, you can park and walk into Paloma, Mexico. The Pink Store which includes a restaurant will drive you back to your car in their stretch golf cart.
From Columbus there is a road north to Deming where you can pick up I-10 again.

Have a safe trip and good luck with your new adventure! Let us know how it goes! You are much braver than me!
