Ka-Boom !.........glass everywhere.

This started out to be a pretty good day but things kinda went downhill.

After I saw mama off to work this morning I loaded the pickup and went to the gun range at day break and did a little shooting for a couple of hours and then came home and cleaned guns......so far so good.

I've got a standard size two car garage and several years ago I installed four fluorescent light fixtures that hold two 4' bulbs in each one.......when I turn the lights on in the garage you've darn near gotta wear sunglasses. :)

Anyway, three of the eight bulbs were burnt out and last weekend I picked up a 4 pack at Wally World and figured I'd just go ahead and get the step ladder and change them out this morning.

All went smoothly changing the first two bulbs then the third burnt bulb slipped out of my hands, hit the garage floor and exploded......Ka-Boom Glass Everywhere !

To rest my mind that all the glass was cleaned up I swept the garage floor twice then moved things around and swept once more. Then I went to the Dollar General store close to the house and bought a el-cheapo mop and mopped the whole garage floor two times.

Pheww......that's all the excitement I want for the day. :)

Oh those are the worst TINY slivers of glass. I have had one of those break on me before & the slivers are just so so tiny. Glad you got it all cleaned up :)

Oh Ike, I hate when that happens! You should be good now and look at it this way, the garage floor is clean enough to eat off now! Hope the rest of your day goes better!

Ike, thank goodness the glass didn't fly into your eye! My husband has those type of light fixtures in our garage too with 100 watt bulbs, nice and bright. Any lightbulb breaking is a nightmare especially if you have pets or like to walk around barefoot. You can't go overboard on the cleanup. I guess if you had those CFL curly bulbs, you'd have to call in a Hazmat team.

We had some old Corelle soup bowls that were supposed to be unbreakable. A long time ago one of them cracked neatly in half, but I loved them and kept them for years. Not that long ago my husband was in the kitchen and I was in the den, heard a loud crash and went rushing to see what was going on.

He dropped the bowl and it broke into a million pieces, over the kitchen floor, under the fridge and stove, on the staircase to the basement and into the living room. I confined the pets and we started the cleanup with broom and vacuum. Days later we were coming across tiny pieces of corningware.

Oy, broken glass is the worst. You'll think you got it all and there will still be the odd shard here there and everywhere. Those lights are horrible because like you say they don't just break, they explode. I use wet paper towels and then vacuum the floor too.

Whoa, I just bet you will be sweeping up slivers of glass for awhile! Do you have a shop vac? That could get the pieces that seem to hide in the corners.
Ike, you need a drink!
And a couple of your special brownies darlin'.
