Kate Middleton portrait controversial?

This seems to be a hot topic in today's news, which is a bit surprising, here in America. I doubt that Jill Biden would get so much publicity, if a magazine put an awful picture of her on the cover.

Could be a slow news day, or maybe people are just getting sick of the usual faces in the news. Apparently the picture is not well-liked in Britain; I have no opinion one way or the other.

It did make me wonder if Kate herself had any say in using the portrait. Or are these matters completely out of their control? If it was a commissioned portrait, I guess they got stuck with whatever they got.

Yes, it is! I don't know which part is supposed to be her... maybe the body... but that's sure not her face, not her hair. In fact, I'm thinking if it wouldn't say "The Princess of Wales" no one would know who it's supposed to be... just some lady with a crown.

It looks more like a drawing. It's flat and has no resemblance to Catherine. Then again, Catherine's features are not really special in any way.

well in actual fact none of us in the Uk saw this picture until yesterday...so reports that the UK doesn't like it..is a bit far fetched... however having seen it myself... I can say it's definitely nothing like Catherine..I have no idea who the artist thought she was painting...

Per an article, it "was commissioned from British-Zambian artist Hannah Uzor by the British fashion magazine, is based on photographs and videos of the princess that were taken a state banquet in November 2022, as opposed to an in-person sitting."

I'm not real fond of the impressionistic style, but it is pretty well executed.

Naturally, I think your tiara is lovely. Fortunately, the painting didn't give her a beard to compare with yours.

Anyone who watched her wedding had time to notice that she was very long waisted and exceptionally slender through the waist and hips. Even that isn't captured and I doubt if that was on purpose to capture her strength and grace.

It really is... on both counts. At least the King's "rhubarb pie red" painting had a very good likeness to his face in all that red that showed it was a real artist at least. SMH

And I just posted that at least that one looked like Charles. This one... not Catherine at all.

Yes, I thought that looked like he was being consumed by the fires of Hell. I figured it was painted by one of Diana's fans.
