Kindle

So what sort have you got and has it transformed your reading life?

I just replaced my Kindle Oasis with the latest version and it works so much better. I have both paper books and loads on Kindle, it has enhanced and enriched my reading, especially the cheap bargains. The way I can enlarge the font is so good, I actually now reject the real books that are often in tiny print. Life is too short not to have comfort in my favourite hobby.

I can't believe some people, though avid readers, still don't want a kindle.
I have a KOBO reader and get free downloads from the library. I really love how you can enlarge the fonts. Yes, as I get older, I find that book type is just getting harder and harder to read. However, there are large print books from the library but the choice of topics sometimes are limited unless you are the type of person that will read anything. I am not!

yes they are all the same size.. but I'm surprised it ran out of charge fast.. mine seems to go on forever. For example, I haven't had mine on for weeks, and today when I turned it on it still had over 40 % charge in it
Maybe mine was defective. I don’t know…. I’m happier using the ipad.

I have 2 Paperwhites and a Fire tablet. I put books about my current project on one PW, NF on the Fire, and fiction on the other PW.

Due to my cataracts, I like being able to change the PW fonts to the darkest bold, and the reading to page numbers. I've had Kindles nearly since they first came out, and I love them. I do not love the Fire tablet, but the photos and illustrations are in color, which is great.

The best thing about the Kindle (and Calibre) is that I no longer have tons of paper books. This means nearly every wall in the house has room for art. DH and I used have about 8,000 personal books, and they take up a lot of wall space. This is what happens to people who collected books and owned a large bookstore (70,000 out-of-print volumes, pared down to 48,000 when we moved to another state).

I have had several Kindles, a couple of the Kindle Fire, and one of the Paperwhite Kindles, which I didn’t like at all. Actually, I prefer reading on my iPad mini, which is just in between the 7 inch Kindle and the 8 inch Kindle Fire, and I find it much simpler to order books and to change books when I have finished reading one.
I read a lot, so I have Kindle Unlimited, which gives me access to borrowing a huge amount of books. Most of the time, if I am reading a novel, I do not need to keep it afterwards anyway; so I only buy books that i want to keep around and refer back to.
I even get the kindle books for knitting and crochet, as well as health books and cookbooks, and those , I usually buy so that I can re-use them .

I also subscribe to BookGorilla.com and Bookbub.com, and they have free and discounted books every day; so often I can get books that i do want to keep when they are on sale.
