Wonderful picture.

Charles and his wife Camilla were greeted with big cheers Sunday as they arrived at the coronation concert in Windsor, England.

Actor Hugh Bonneville, the concert's host, opened the show by recognizing Charles' "lifelong passion for the arts." Bonneville got a quick laugh from Charles when he referred to the king as "the artist formerly known as prince."

Prince William, Prince of Wales makes a speech during the Coronation Concert, May 7, 2023 in Windsor, England.

William, the heir to the throne, honored his father with a speech recognizing Charles' decades of service to others and to the planet. William was met by loud cheers when he took the stage in front of Windsor Castle.

He honored his father's service, noting the pledge of service Charles gave at Saturday's coronation as well as the "over 50 years of service" he devoted before becoming king.

"We're all so proud of you," William said.

Kate Middleton's Parents Are Reportedly Going to Play This Major Role in King Charles III's Reign

caroletwo.jpg

"Not only does Prince William have a new role now that King Charles III has officially been crowned, two members of Kate Middleton’s family are reportedly stepping up to help out at the palace. Carole and Michael Middleton, the Princess of Wales’ parents, might be pitching in around Adelaide Cottage as Kate and William take on more royal duties."

"The grandparents of Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 5, may be crucial to this next stage of Charles’ royal reign, according to the Daily Mail. The couple’s attendance at the coronation “is a very clear sign about the future direction of the monarchy.” It is believed that King Charles “will lean heavily on William and Kate” to pick up the heavy traveling schedule as he and Queen Camilla step back and focus on the U.K. They are both in their 70s and the royal tours demand lots of energy and time — something the Prince and Princess of Wales have plenty of."

Kate Middleton Looks Lovely in Blue at Buckingham Palace Garden Party
9 May 2023

"On Tuesday, both Middleton and Prince William welcomed thousands of visitors into the famed Buckingham Palace garden just days after appearing on the building’s balcony to celebrate the official crowning of King Charles III. For the occasion, Kate ushered in major spring vibes by donning a baby blue Elie Saab gown that featured a sheer bodice and sleeves, a pussy bow neckline, and a gem-embellished tulle overlay. A matching blue fascinator (complete with an oversized floral appliqué), silver heels, and topaz-and-diamond Kiki McDonough hoop earrings accessorized Kate’s dress, and she wore her brunette hair pulled into a sleek side bun to finish the look."

Kate Middleton's 'Growing Influence' on the Monarchy Proves That She Emerged as Royal Family Superstar After King Charles III's Coronation

"It looks like there is a clear winner in the royal family after the coronation last Saturday, and it isn’t King Charles III. It seems that his daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton, emerged as the superstar at the palace — although most people probably knew this already."

"The Princess of Wales has been exerting her power in a more confident way to not only score tickets for her family members to the coronation, but also her staff. The Telegraph notes that her “growing influence” is quite apparent these days because she’s playing a “central role” in helping to “modernize the monarchy.” Sources are impressed with how she’s helped to set Prince William up for his leadership role as Prince of Wales — and there are flattering comparisons to the late Queen Elizabeth II."

"William, like his dad, is known to have a “short temper,” so Kate often comes in clutch in helping “to soothe and calm her husband,” which his late grandmother did so well. Even with the family feud, the Princess of Wales has reportedly kept “a cool head when all about her are losing theirs.” And even though she’s been unsuccessful in reuniting William and Prince Harry, she was the first person everyone thought of when the palace tried to “broker peace.”"

"She’s reportedly trying to stay away from the family drama and focus on the work she needs to do as the Princess of Wales. “Of course she’ll know what’s been said but she won’t have read any of the coverage,” a royal insider told the U.K. outlet. “She tries to stay well away from all that stuff.” Now let’s hope the royal family lets her flourish as the palace’s shining star"

King Charles Breaks Ground On Whittle Laboratory In Cambridge(Photos)

CAMBRIDGE, ENGLAND - MAY 09: "King Charles arrives for a visit to the Whittle Laboratory in Cambridge to break ground on the new laboratory, meet with academics, aviation leaders and tour the facility on May 9, 2023 in Cambridge, England."

"King Charles breaks ground for new Cambridge net zero lab after Coronation weekend
The King broke ground for a new laboratory that aims to speed up the development of net zero aviation in his first official engagement since his coronation. Charles, 74, toured Cambridge University’s Whittle Laboratory, which has recently secured funding to develop a new £58 million lab."

"As he walked to perform the ceremonial breaking of the ground, where a lump of mud was already visible on the grass, he joked: “I don’t suppose it’s already been done?”
He added: “It’s very unfair. I was rather looking forward to doing a bit of gardening.”
The King then sank the spade into the earth, using his foot to help lift a lump of turf out, before raising the spade aloft."

"He then jabbed the spade into the ground, leaving it standing, and walked to the stage where he gave a short speech expressing his “enormous admiration” for the work of the laboratory.
The new Whittle Laboratory is designed to become the leading global centre for disruptive innovation in net zero aviation and energy, bringing together experts from research and industry."

It seems to be a great shame that she must have been in a whiskers length of helping Meghan to settle into a new role and there were moments when it appeared to be working but Harry and Meghan I personally think they decided to set their own directions and were not seemingly willing to compromise with the much bigger machine which is their family = the Royal Family. The incidence of 'someone' "mentioning about the color of a babies skin" was unfortunate and inappropriate but it has happened in my own family and we dealt with it sympathetically but also with chiding [there's an old word not used often enough perhaps?] and forgiveness - my younger family members are all the colors of the rainbow. Harry and Meghan perhaps haven't sufficient skills in compromise?

Great oportunities missed in my estimation possibly for ever - what a shame?

"Sir Edward Young announced his retirement on Monday after 19 years of working within the royal household, first for the late Queen Elizabeth II, and latterly for Charles himself."

"Young was Queen Elizabeth's principal private secretary from 2017 until her death, in the most senior position within the monarch's working household. Young controlled the royal diary, oversaw important events, and was the primary liaison point for the private secretaries of other royal households (such as the Prince of Wales')."

"On Monday, it was announced that upon Young's retirement, King Charles has granted him a peerage, made him a Lord-in-Waiting, and appointed him a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath and a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order."

"With his peerage, Sir Edward Young becomes Lord Young and will take a seat in the House of Lords, the upper house of the British parliamentary system. He will be able to vote to pass or veto laws put through by the House of Commons."

"Upon the announcement of his retirement from royal service on Monday, the 56-year old said: "I am honoured to have served two sovereigns through historic times, and grateful for all the support and friendship of colleagues along the way. I am deeply touched by their kind words and tributes as I venture beyond the Palace gates, but look forward to staying in close contact in years ahead."

As King Charles III looks forward, take a look back at his 1990 visit to Charleston

Then-Prince Charles (left) and then-Charleston Mayor Joe Riley make their way down Meeting Street as the future king toured Charleston on Feb. 21, 1990.

"Charles Town was established in 1670 and named for King Charles II. The city would become a Colonial jewel of the British Empire, introducing a remunerative crop to the global supply chain — Carolina Gold rice — and making its slaveholding planters among the wealthiest people in the world."

"The links between Charleston and Great Britain are pronounced. One can see them in the architecture and churches, the lawyers’ offices and shop facades in the historic district, the gardens and parks — and the street names."

"King Street was named for the King of England. Queen Street was named for Queen Caroline of Anspach, queen consort of George II."

"Though the governmental links were severed during the American Revolution, the social and cultural affinities remained in place, even as they mixed over the centuries with other traditions, practices and priorities." (Read More)
