Kate Middleton is wearing a crisp white coatdress trimmed with a black and white bow from Jenny Packham, a British designer who has outfitted the Princess of Wales for many important occasions, as well as a hat from milliner Philip Treacy.

With her hair pulled back, royal watchers may also recognize Kate's pearl and diamond earrings by Cassandra Goad as she wore them to Prince Louis's christening in 2018.

Major protocol change King Charles made to Kate Middleton during Trooping The Colour that you may not have noticed

"Kate was pictured arriving at the ceremony, as well as joining other senior members of the Royal Family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. The Royals gather on the balcony during the event to watch the RAF flyover."

"It was during this time that King Charles made a touching gesture towards his daughter-in-law, in what is a huge change of protocol. During the flyover, Kate was seen next to Charles, a change from last year's event when Prince William was pictured next to his father."

"Of course, it's not clear if the move was intentional, but with Kate and Charles laughing and joking together, the Princess of Wales seemed at ease next to the monarch."

Grant Harrold, a former royal butler, has said: "It is planned but it is also changing the protocol to show the King and Kate united with each other and going through similar battles, so I would say this is down to the King’s preference. The balcony is all orchestrated but I have a feeling the King said to Kate ‘you stand next to me’."

This isn’t his actual birthday. He was born on November 14, 1948. This is a token date for an annual celebration. Different countries in the commonwealth use different dates.

In Canada we always celebrated the Queen’s birthday on the first Monday closet to May 24.

King Charles III welcomes Japanese emperor and empress for state visit.

"King Charles III and Queen Camilla are hosting Japan's Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako this week as part of a belated and previously postponed visit originally set for 2020—before being railroaded by the COVID-19 pandemic. Though this event has been years in the making, the British royals were still reportedly forced to "adapt" their plans amid the family's ongoing health woes and the upcoming special election."

Prince William is leading the royal welcome.

"The Prince of Wales, 42, officially kicked off the Emperor and Empress of Japan's state visit to the U.K. on Tuesday, June 25, by welcoming them at their hotel in London on behalf of his father, King Charles."

"The Princess Royal has recently been discharged from Southmead Hospital in Bristol, following a five-night stay after suffering a head injury and concussion on Sunday."

The Queen and Edward became members of Order of the Thistle - Scotland's greatest order of chivalry on Day two of Holyrood week.

The King and Queen arrived at St Giles Cathedral around 11 am and received a royal salute from the Guard of Honour, while the Band played the National Anthem.

The Prince of Wales, known as the Duke of Rothesay in Scotland, was also in attendance at today's ceremony.

Charles is the sovereign of the Order and appointments are his personal gift made independently of Downing Street to those who have public office or have contributed significantly to national life.

Camilla is patron of Maggie's Cancer Care Centres, founded in Edinburgh in 1996, while she is also patron or president of a number of charities based in Scotland and is an honorary member of the local Ballater Women's Institute and the Upper Deeside Art Society.

According to a UK Government source, King Charles and Queen Camilla "definitely" want to go, but such a visit would take four to six months to prepare. Prince William has chosen to fully support King Charles in making a significant decision

During King Charles' reign, he has prioritized a streamlined monarchy, aiming to prevent Buckingham Palace's balcony from becoming overcrowded with non-working royals and their families as seen in the past.

There is no inclination to introduce additional royals to lighten the load, and this strategy is expected to continue in the future—a direction that former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond views as a positive step. "I still hold to the idea that the slimmed down Royal Family IS indeed the right model for the future," Jennie told OK! "It's in line with most European monarchies and is sensitive to the constant criticism that the royal family cost taxpayers too much."

"So I think the King and William are entirely right to be determined to keep the core of working royals a small, tight unit that can be accountable to the public purse." Jennie's insights follow the revelation that Prince William is set to continue his father's vision of a pared-down monarchy.

"As hurricane Beryl wreaks havoc across the Caribbean, King Charles has sent a message to all those affected. The British monarch—who is head of state in eight Caribbean countries— has also made a substantial donation to the relief effort according to aides."

“My family and I have been profoundly saddened to learn of the dreadful destruction caused by Hurricane Beryl across the Caribbean,” the King said in a statement released by Buckingham Palace yesterday. “Above all, we send our heartfelt condolences to the friends and families of those who have so cruelly lost their lives."

"I have seen the extraordinary spirit of resilience and solidarity that people across the Caribbean have shown in response to such destruction – a spirit which has been called upon too often—and so I also send my particular gratitude to the emergency services and volunteers who are supporting the rescue and recovery efforts."
