Knock knock knocking on heavens door

An episode of the Cosby show comes to mind when he described his father and mother as being nice, because they have to be, because they were getting ready for Heaven.
Heaven has been our hope for me, from the late 1970s. As each person presents their ages here I am 55 should be 56 this year August. Black male not Black mail. I've read some comments and my heart sank, comments of those living alone.

A lady who's husband left this life in 2022. Much peace my dear one.

Living alone after love I could only perceive is hard. With the Hope of Heaven a small flicker of light, left to our imagination. I would love to preach an informative sermon disclosing the expectations of Heaven, which, woefully many Preachers fail to do. It's like trying to explain Disney World to a blind kid. Or trying to tell a New -Yorkin who has never traveled to the Islands about life in the Bahamas.

I know these references pale in comparisons but my point exactly. I have just entered the empty nest phase of my life, my Kids are all grown, three, no grands, we taught them Wedding before Kids and they obeyed. The apartment is quiet except for my brides Audibles she listens to while I am trying to "Make Money online" trying not to return to the working world of trading time for money.

Knock- knock-Knocking on Heavens Door.
While the song is a timeless classic by Bob Dylan.
I've heard this song many years ago, never understood it nor known the lyrics. In the 80's we ran to the radio with our black and white notebook to write down the songs quickly, then when my mom bought a cassette player/ Boom box(sorry for any traumatic memories I am stirring up). We would pause and rewind until we had written down our favorite songs and then played them trying to sing them all the way through.
Now the melody and style of this song is akin to The Man in Black: Johnny Cash.
Heaven is a real place, the Gates of heaven of which there are 12 are made of one Pearl. And they never close. God our Father loves us so much that he made access to heaven available to ALL. First God removed the one barrier keeping us from Heaven. Sin. John the Baptist said of Jesus. ...Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the Sin of the world" My questions to ponder. a. Did Jesus truly 'take away' the Sin of the world or just for those who believe. Yes for the whole world.

it is written: Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. Sin is not the the bad things we do or have done, but Sin/sin is the transgression of God's Laws. So what did God Do for us b. God removed the Law, the Ten Commandments so that
Sin will not be imputed to us (the World) Romans 5:13 " for until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law." Sin was in the world but was not imputed until God added the Ten Commandments not the ceremonial Laws, those were only for Israel personally.

The Ten commandments were given to Israel first for them to understand the insult of Sin towards God, then were to be taken to us the Gentiles. However the animosity between Jews and Gentiles was too strong.

Today Sin is no longer being imputed to anyone in the world, from God's side. Through God's Love, Sin is gone. Jesus Said "It is finished" the way to Heaven is Open Wide. It's Narrow because it depends on one man, the Godman Jesus. He is the Narrow door.
Making the door wide is when you or others consider the bad things you have done, did or want to do.
Don't give it a second thought. Jesus The Christ is Our righteousness. Asking Jesus to come into your heart is right and good.

Let me close with this altered statement.
Look without(at the News and world) and be distressed, Look above(at God in the sky asking him why) and be Perplexed, Look within(your heart/stomach/being, realizing Christ in you the Hope of Glory) and be at rest.

Again:
Look without and be distressed,
Look above and be perplexed,
Look within and be at rest.

Thanks for your attention.

First, I had Cosby's routine on an LP and remember his statement about "old people trying to get into heaven". He was hilarious. Very unfortunate about his baggage.

Secondly, I can understand why you miss your kids but this should be the time you and your missus start to think about things you can now do because the kids aren't involved. We've taken extended family vacations ever year with BIL, SIL and the kids. Now that they've grown up we had an "adults only" vacation in Dallas last year and a good time was had by all!

Anyway, welcome to the forum, and I hope you will find it an interesting place to spend time. There are lots of intelligent, caring people here!
