I have bank alerts too.Thinking about it, the worst scenario would be if my phone were stolen. If any of my bank cards were used, there’s an alert on the phone. I can shut them down/alert banks from that phone. I have no clue what anyone’s phone number is.
Police always tell people to carry a wallet in your front pocket never in the back !I haven't carried a purse in 15 years or so. I wear men's pants because the pockets are deeper. Wallet, keys, phone. The wallet is in the back pocket, which is supposed to be the easiest to pick. I wear my shirt out; hopefully that makes it harder? Maybe I should relocate it to the front.
That makes sense. Nothing for the crooks to just snatch and run after they’ve broken into your vehicle. At the local beach parking lots, they have signs saying to not leave anything in your car - locked or not. An alarm in the car anywhere is ignored for enough minutes for the crooks to get away.Years ago I wanted something that I could lock up valuables in my pick up truck such as my wallet, checkbook, etc. that if someone broke in, they couldn't just grab & run.
This Liberty Safe HD-90 key vault has a security cable that loops around the framework underneath my truck seat & is shoved under it out of sight. I was impressed by this & I bought another for the car which is secured on the rear seat framework & lays inside the trunk. The keys are not your standard key, but are round similar to a vending machine key.

I think it's a great idea but what if your car is stolen?Years ago I wanted something that I could lock up valuables in my pick up truck such as my wallet, checkbook, etc. that if someone broke in, they couldn't just grab & run.

Your car could be stolen with your wallet/valuables in it even if you just found a hidey-hole to put them in.I think it's a great idea but what if your car is stolen?
I know how to prevent my car being stolen...but my point was if you're taking all the precautions of leaving valuables in your car in an essentially safe box.. they're still gone if your car is stolen...Your car could be stolen with your wallet/valuables in it even if you just found a hidey-hole to put them in.
Main thing is to do what you can to make your car unattractive to steal. Park in well lighted or high traffic areas. One easy to do thing is just to lock your doors. It's so amazing when I read the police-blotter in the local paper of how many things happen to unlocked cars parked in the owners driveway over night.
Another thing is to use a steering wheel lock. The are "in your face" to a thief when looking inside your car. If you own a Kia or Hyundai, get a steering wheel lock.
I have no idea how much it costs, but we've been thinking of putting a kill-switch in one of the farm tractors we have because we really don't want to loose it.
You can get similar ones with thumb ID.Years ago I wanted something that I could lock up valuables in my pick up truck such as my wallet, checkbook, etc. that if someone broke in, they couldn't just grab & run.

Those work with batteries/electric & if you loose power, you loose access. Also, some only allow one person to use them. With keys I don't have to worry about that & my husband & kid can also use it if need be.You can get similar ones with thumb ID.
Yep, that can happen as nothing is foolproof. But a few people here had mentioned leaving wallets in their car & not carrying those on them sometimes depending on the situation. This is just a way to further secure items in the vehicle. What it would do is not make for easy pickens by a thief.I know how to prevent my car being stolen...but my point was if you're taking all the precautions of leaving valuables in your car in an essentially safe box.. they're still gone if your car is stolen...
A decent wire cutter will take care of business. But it makes your insurance and ATF happy. That makes sense. Nothing for the crooks to just snatch and run after they’ve broken into your vehicle. I had the same thing in Spain again... I did say it's crime ridden in many places....sadly...So far my neighborhood seems quite safe but only a few miles away people are having their car windows smashed so thieves can gain access. Some have stopped locking their cars to keep from having to replace a window. Its a sad situation either way.
