Last night was one of the most frightening nights I ever had. My exDIL called me at 11:30pm. She told me that my grandson had been the victim of a holdup and the man had a weapon. I asked how my grandson was and she said "OK I guess, he is at a Police station giving them info on the robbery. She said she wasn't sure which police station he was at." So of course I panicked. She said they had stolen his cell phone so she couldn't reach him. I asked her where it happened and she told me he was walking to his apartment near the College that he is attending. I then looked up the nearest Police station to is attending college.
It took an hour to locate where he was and my husband jumped in the car to go to the Police station that was about 45mins. from where we live. My exDIL didn't want to go with him and my Husband didn't want me to go so he went alone. The next few hours were awful. Waiting to hear from my husband and hearing that my grandson was all right. My son didn't even know what happened. So I called him and he was at the ER because of a knee problem. So of course he panicked too. I heard from my husband at 12pm. He was with my grandson and everything was ok with him. By the time my husband waited for the Police to get all the info from my grandson and my husband was allowed to drive him home it was 2:30 am. And my husband finally got home at 3:30am. My mind is exhausted. My son is still at the ER, and they think he needs surgery on his leg. All this is happening a few days before my grandson's College graduation. I am so Thankful that everything went ok. Now I just wonder how long it will take me to stop shaking.

Wow. Not the kind of night I would wish on anybody. At least, thank goodness your grandson is all right, though I bet he was pretty traumatized by the whole thing.

Be well Sassy. That's sounds like a terribly frightening ordeal. You're just not safe anywhere anymore. Your poor grandson. He must have been really shaken up.

Oh dear Sassycakes, I hope that you are feeling a bit
calmer and that your grandson is OK.

Mike.

Sorry about your ordeal, Sassy. Your grandson is fine, but I hope your son's leg will be ok... what happened to it? Did he fall?

He isn't really sure what happened to his leg. They are leaning toward a torn meniscus ,and will probably have to do surgery.Thank you for your response.

Oh no, what a horrible frightening situation for your grandson, and all of you... and your son in the ER at the same time.. you all must have been panicking like Hell, I know I would have been.

Poor grandson, hope he's not too shaken by this and thank God he was unharmed.

May I ask tho' sassy, why did his mother ( I'm presuming this is your grandson's mother) not want to go to the Police station?

My grandson never lets you know if something really upsets him. He keeps everything inside him and never complains. I can't believe all he went through and I hope it doesn't affect his happiness this week. He graduates college,we're having a very nice party for him and I really want him to enjoy his success. He studied Bio Medical Engineering and graduates at the top of his class. I just want him to be safe and happy.

A terrifying experience for you all sassy, pleased to hear your grandson was not seriously hurt, wishing you all well and I hope it will not spoil your lovely family party

That's a terrible experience, and it's fortunate the outcome was that your grandson was not harmed. Keep in mind that this sort of trauma has long-lasting effects. People sometimes forget that.

I was attacked in my early 20's, though 'unharmed' other than scraped knees. The psychological effects lasted for quite some time.

Sassy——I see that you are in Philly. What college does your grandson attend? Do you know what police department was involved?

Just curious.
