Lawn Guy Ruined My Trimmer

After looking at gas, electric corded and electric battery mowers, the one that's starting to look good is this one:

I lived in town for a few years and had a rotary mower like that for my lawn. I always liked it, a bit of work but as long as you didn't let the grass get high it worked well.

I say you should buy a mower, exercise and accomplishment are both good for your well being.

@debodun

Our home sits on 8,700 sq. ft. of land our home is 2,220 sq.ft. plus a detached garage.

We pay $ 35.00 every other week to have our grass cut … (since I broke my collarbone)

Before my fall, I cut it myself. I enjoyed the exercise… well except during the hot months of July and August 😕

However, they do such a great job cutting and weeding, I may continue even after I’m healed. I’m not sure yet. 😊

And even one that gets 5 stars on one site gets a (n) on another. I guess it's like cars - one person get a lemon and gives a bad rap to all of that brand.
you have the best reviews right here, among all of us who use various types of mower. ..so just stick with whatever one we've suggested that suits you.. and you'll be fine..:D I'm still suggesting the mower I've used for years and that's the push button start battery run rechargeable lighweight mower with collecting box... .

I have that hand held vac you suggested in my Amazon cart. I just haven't bought it yet. It is available here.

I have an agreement with a lawn maintenance company that handles everything from killing the weeds to feeding and mowing the lawn. They also do the edging trimming and cleanup. If I get a bare spot, they repair it and if grubs show up, they treat it again to kill the grubs. They also do my mulching.

The people that live next door to me run a landscaping service. I sent them an email through their Web page, but their reply (a week later) was they don't mow. They do landscape design and installation, spring and fall cleanup's, mulching, pruning and weeding - but not mowing!

Just pay. That's the problem. debodun doesn't want to pay a going rate to get the work done. Been There and others are willing to pay the money out for something they can't or don't want to do. I know not all may have the funds, but those who do can be glad they can pay someone.

I see lawn care people sometimes at my stepfather's mobile park.

Agree and very well said. You get what you pay for or you do it yourself.

If you go the route of buying a mower, your main decision is:
Go cordless battery powered or go Gas powered. Cordless battery is the future of ALL yard maintenance equipment & going electric eliminates all maintenance issues except sharpening of the mower blades which you can do yourself using a metal file. You will pay more for a good battery powered mower than gas powered though. As @hollydolly & I have both mentioned, we believe the battery powered mowers are the way to go for many reasons.

Choice is up to you or, just continue to look for someone to do it for you. You will pay more going that route after a couple of years but it's also less work for you. Again, the decision is yours to make.

If you decide to buy a mower, buy a quality mower. If it's a gas mower, I prefer one with a Honda engine. Electric I don't have any experience with. Buy once, cry once.

Honda makes very good engines....But, their lawn mower "Smart Drive" self propelled system is a PITA, IMO. Last Summer, my neighbor had some minor surgery, so I mowed his yard a couple of times. He has a Honda mower, and the drive system consists of a "paddle" on the handle bar that you have to push with the thumbs to operate the drive. That is really had to try to maintain a proper walking pace. A Much better system is the "Personal Pace" system on my Toro mower....the harder you push the handle, the faster the mower goes....very easy to use.

This is what I've been saying all along. I have a cordless battery mower, it's very lightweight, ideal for older people .. it has 6 cutting heights.. I've had it for a good many years and never once had to have the blades sharpened , but it can be done easily even by us mere wimmin.. by just following YT video..
