Length of forum "Stays"

Forums are no longer relevant, many have disappeared, most will be gone within 5 years.

What will become of us?

What do you believe will be the next version of talking over the back fence, chatting on the front porch or sitting around the general store swapping the details of day to day life?

Sadly enough, I agree.

I think they're being replaced by social media. Fast sound bites. None of the newer generations want to sit around the pickle barrel and gab anymore.

Although I wonder about some special interest forums, whether they'll survive or not.

Social networks: facebook, twitter, Google+, Instagram... all of them are forum killers, and there will be new ones coming out from time to time.

Smart phones: many people rarely turn on their computers at home, and it's hard to use forums on tiny screens.

Maybe we will just have to bite the bullet and go old school!

Hopefully SF will be around for a long time to come and we'll never see..........

There was one overseas forum that I participated in only a little. When I got a new computer that forum did not make the transition.
