Les Miserables performance disrupted by protesters

Let's face it, how many of us would be discussing the "Stop Oil" group, if they hadn't protested by stopping the show? It worked.
And, in reality, maybe we can't send them all to the guillotine for stopping the show, we'll have to settle for something like criminal mischief.

The show was disrupted during a performance of its famous protest song “Do You Hear the People Sing?”

Audience members will be offered refunds or tickets for another performance.

At least some kids are trying to make a better world. We should all be protesting.

Many of us sit in our ivory towers (including me) oblivious to the trauma others are experiencing.
Well said, Jamala! Whether it's oil, starving children, inhumane treatment of food animals, or nuclear weapons, I'm always impressed with people who care about issues enough to try to raise awareness and effect change.

Where I live people are protesting all the time against almost anything. If people had work to do they wouldn't be walking around protesting and protesting.

It used to be that you had to work for a living. Now, everyone wants free handouts and few want to work. They say, "it's their human right."

Caring is one thing - deliberately spoiling other peoples' enjoyment and trying to force your views on them is another matter. These protesters are little more than common criminals and should be treated as such.

Lots of the younger ones are from, "Privileged" backgrounds,
others are elderly, here in the UK, all are arrogant and heartless,
a few weeks ago, a young mother was taking her sick baby to
the hospital, yet none of them would let her pass, this I find
really heartless.

The Germans had a better way of treating them, when some
got into a museum, I think that it was a car manufacturers,
Mercedes or Volks Wagen, they glued themselves, to either
a radiator, or a wall, the staff looked at them and went home
after locking the place up, they gave them nothing, no water,
or a receptacle if they needed the toilet, I don't know how they
got on, did the police come the next day, to release them, then
arrest them? Probably.

Our police at the beginning, when they blocked an access road
to a motorway, brought them cups of tea!

Mike.

In today's atmosphere, I should think that most of us are aware of the problems of global warming, etc. Most of us are attempting to address the issue responsibly and through proper channels. There are organizations run by young people who go about attempting to solve these problems in an intelligent and sensible manner.

The hooligans who create more problems, employed resolving these issues, are not to be applauded for their abominable behavior. There are protests and there are protests. Yes, the Constitution guarantees the right to lawful assemblage in order to deliver a message. It does not permit the disruptive nonsense being utilized by these misguided fools.

You were doing OK until the last sentence. The protest being discussed here took place in the United Kingdom, not the USA, so your Constitution is irrelevant to the discussion. JimB.

Yes.

This will not be a popular stance but the reason stuff like this doesn't happen in America is because guns are a deterrent to crimes of this nature. And it is a crime in a way because theatre goers paid a lot for their tickets but the show was interrupted by protesters. It's like stealing, isn't it?

I wouldn't say it was the same as stealing. A thief ends up in possession of something like a car, jewelry or cash. Protestors end up with nothing, they only want attention for a few minutes and then everyone can return to their enjoyment.

Yep. Guns solve every problem, right ? How is that working out for you in America ? Would this be a good time to remind you what happened on January the sixth last year, in YOUR national capital ? I am shaking my head at your comment here. JImB.

@ Chic, I agree with you.

They are stealing ... they have taken someone's time & money that wasn't theirs to take.
