My 71 year old cousin, who was adopted as a newborn by my Aunt and Uncle, decided out of sheer 2020 quarantine boredom, to sign up with 23 and Me (think that is the name...one of those spit in the tube genetic places to find out about your heritage etc). He thought he would see if there were any diseases in his DNA that he should be aware of. He not only found out about that but also found his birth mother who is 92 and still alive and well!!!! He somehow got in touch with her and she was over the moon with happiness. She hadn’t ever told a soul that she gave her baby up 71 years ago so his contacting her really could have had catastrophic results. But she was not only thrilled but desperately wanted to meet with him. She introduced him to her whole family including his 8 half siblings and they were all very open, loving, and welcoming
. This was about the best, happiest, story that I have heard in my entire life...and it probably wouldn’t have happened without the covid crisis. So yay! One GOOD thing
