Let’s talk about some GOOD things that happened in 2020

My 71 year old cousin, who was adopted as a newborn by my Aunt and Uncle, decided out of sheer 2020 quarantine boredom, to sign up with 23 and Me (think that is the name...one of those spit in the tube genetic places to find out about your heritage etc). He thought he would see if there were any diseases in his DNA that he should be aware of. He not only found out about that but also found his birth mother who is 92 and still alive and well!!!! He somehow got in touch with her and she was over the moon with happiness. She hadn’t ever told a soul that she gave her baby up 71 years ago so his contacting her really could have had catastrophic results. But she was not only thrilled but desperately wanted to meet with him. She introduced him to her whole family including his 8 half siblings and they were all very open, loving, and welcoming 😍. This was about the best, happiest, story that I have heard in my entire life...and it probably wouldn’t have happened without the covid crisis. So yay! One GOOD thing ❤️❤️❤️❤️
 
I started on this forum this year and met some wonderful, beautiful souls! Met a few ornery ole blisters too but I won't mention them.
Most of the people on here are just incredible folk and I luv 'em to pieces! I got to have private conversations with some wonderful men too!
It's especially nice because I live alone, my kids are far, far away and you guys are like family! Luv ya!

I have to agree with you that this forum is like family. I love coming here. I really can't think of anything good that happened this year. I only know that my worrying Has increased and that isn't a good thing.
 
Having more time to do the things I love. This virus has made me realize I don't have to be running out to the stores for this or that every week and I'm really not in need of much of anything.
I also make the most of the time when I do go out and I find I can't wait to get home.
My shopping list consists more of staples I need and items I can make and freeze.
 
A good thing is that neither my husband or I, or anyone in our family have been infected with COVID-19. Like Ruth n Jersey, it's been a bit calming, I still walk the dog every day at the parks which we both enjoy very much regardless of the weather, and my shopping has been greatly lessened, get what I need and happy to go back home. Another good thing is most of the nice folks here are hanging in during the pandemic and doing okay. Love and hugs to everyone here, let's hope for a better new year. 💚

Awww... Hugs to you sweetie. Yes, we are family, and I for one am proud to call this place home and give thanks to wonderful members as yourself.
 
Lets see, on the plus side:
Neither my wife or I got COVID.
This forum and the people on it has been a great gift to me.
I completed the radiation portion of my cancer treatment.
We got a new puppy who is keeping us pretty busy, ... and entertained.
We aren't going anywhere or spending much money, so we are saving quite a bit.

On the negative side:
All that other stuff.

At 92 his birth mother was beyond caring what anyone thought about her giving up a baby 71 years ago, just thrilled she got to know what happened to him before she left this world. Good things that happened in 2020: I got to meet one of my great-granddaughters, one son got a great promotion at work, the other started collecting on his military retirement (23 yrs service) and can retire from his civilian job if he wants to (he doesn't), my daughter and her husband bought their dream home. Those are the biggies. Countless little good things have happened too (i.e., my youngest granddaughter lost the last of her baby-teeth...thinks she's a hot-shot now).
 
Thank God for Zoom meetings On May 3rd I had my 1st one seeing my brother&his family for 1st time since Xmas 2019.Every Sun afternoon since then we get together.Two weeks ago,our older sister Mary who lives in England finally joined us.The last time I saw her in person was in 2012
 
2020 has been a bit "trying" with this virus. But, we have accepted and adapted to the restrictions, and haven't had any unusual health issues. If anything, the events of this year has made us all appreciate each other more during our limited family visits. And, with limited running around, and very few casino trips, we've saved a bit more money this year.
 
The best thing that happened this year was finally selling the summer trailer. Loved that place till the drunk from double hockeysticks moved across the road.

3 in the morning, she imagined herself an American Idol Contestant but she sounded more like a female moose in labour. Dancing and singing with her friends around a campfire till she finally would fall on her butt and they would all laugh like it was the funniest thing going.

I do NOT miss that place and put the money instead into a sunroom addition where I can hear the birds sing.
 
I've kept a journal since 1987,I keep track of top 10 yearly events good or bad,put them in the journal at the end of the yr This yr will be alot different from most,but I did find a good story which happened on May 30th
2 U.S. astronauts,Doug Hurley,Bob Behnken went up in Elon Musk's Space X capsule to the international space station,stayed there for 63 days.They came back to Earth safe&sound on Aug 12th This was the 1st time astronauts used a privately own company,not NASA to accomplish this historic acheivement
 
Preferring to bypass restaurants has not only saved money but I am reminded when I do go out that I fix much healthier, tastier meals at home!

And add me to the list of people grateful for this site! Meeting new folks, sharing a laugh, seeing pics from around the USA and the World.. love it!
