Let's All Stand Up For Each Other!

This is an amazing and beautiful video that had me in tears because of the magnificent people that spoke up in the face of racism! The last lady that speaks on it....well, words just fail me. Please watch and I'm sure you will love it too!

They were certainly more eloquent than I would have been. And restrained.

I'd have probably said something like "Oi! Pull you b*****y head in!"

I'm planning to attend a local government meeting next week in solidarity with some young muslim women I've been talking to online. I may just have cause to say something exactly like that.

I like those 'what would you do' shows, I've seen some of them on TV. Interesting how some people react to certain situations, some remain quiet and some speak out. One guy (actor) was luring a young woman who had too much to drink (actress) to come and take a ride with him in his car. Some people in the next booth of the diner overheard, and stepped right in to make sure that woman didn't get into a dangerous situation. Nice when people speak up for what's right, there's a lot of good folks out there.

I think I may have seen the show you are talking about SeaBreeze. It sounds vaguely familiar.

It is nice isn't it when we are there for one another even when you don't know each other! I think I'm at an age where things like the people on the video make me all weepy. Seems like my empathy meter goes off the charts.

As for your upcoming meeting Dame Warrigal, I hope that it is more uplifting than needful of strong words, but if it's the latter I'm sure you'll do just what's needed for the moment.

Yes, obviously you do need to be careful, but it would be an awful world where nobody ever stood up for or otherwise helped somebody, wouldn't it.

It was a great video wasn't it WindnSea? I hope that I'd be brave enough to speak up for someone else, because in 'real life' I'm a bit of a mouse. Watch, form an opinion and then creep away......but watching somebody simply being embarrassed by a practical joke is untenable to me so I think I could do it in a case like the ones shown.

There was an incident where some one was attacked in a public place and people watched from a distance and do nothing to help. It is easy for us to do nothing and take real courage to stand up like that. I am afraid I would join the rest and be too scared of self harm to get in the way like heros do everyday for us.

This was a good vid Debby, I am proud of the gal that spoke up, I want to be just like her when it comes to any situation where someone needs to say something. What amazes more then that gals courage is the lack of, from people around her. I'm not talking everyone gang up, and maybe I didn't here or see someone backing her up with at least an "amen to that". Hurray for those that speak up, get involved. How many times do you hear "I don't want to get involved", or "I'm just stayin out of it". There's a time for that, but I hope I know the right times to speak up and the right time to be quiet.
