Lion found hanging in Indonesian Zoo
It must have been a drug runner then.
Seriously: That zoo has been done over by ABC journos recently and it ain't heaven in there by any means. The owner has political connections and that's the best currency going in Indo.
But before we get too ott. Those lions aren't starved, they look in pretty good nick. That there are only 4 left could be down to them not having a long lifespan normally and that thankfully they are not being replaced by new ones. The young one was in good condition too, that they didn't think it was stupid enough to get it's head between cables is oversight writ large, but cruelty? A relative returned home from work to find the $600 pedigreed Staffy they treasured had hung itself by wedging it's stupid head between fence palings while trying to climb out of the yard. Sh*t happens.
That bony camel could be ancient, suffering some disease, or any other causes accounting for the sad condition of it.
Sad faces are what monkeys specialize in, like dogs, they are masters at it.
Suspect neglect by all means, and you're probably right, but animals die in the best zoos in the World too. I seem to recall one here lost a baby elephant to a similar accident just a few weeks ago.
...and a point to ponder. If the lion's body had vanished by the time the police got there then how, and from whom, did the D.Mail get the photo???
Just sayin', keep things in perspective to ensure that you only get outraged over the things that really merit outrage and not just those in rag selling headlines.
