Liquor Store encounter...lol

I'm trying to finish Xmas shopping and first stop this morning was to pick up a bottle of Grey Goose for the boss! I would never buy it for myself, way too expensive, but I can't tell you how generous this man is with me, so Grey Goose it is for Xmas and b'days.

As I was walking out a very tall, reasonably well dressed/clean cut guy, was attempting to talk with the lady parked beside me and I heard her say, "leave me alone," slammed her door shut and quickly drove away. I was the only one left in the parking lot, no one else around. He approached wishing me a Merry Xmas. I'm an old woman and working, resulting in zero sympathy for begging crap! I knew that was obviously where he was headed! Without answering, I turned around and headed back in the store. A nice man (and even larger sized than the beggar) was exiting and I quickly explained and asked him to please watch as I got in my car. The jerk walked up to him and asked what I had told him. He told him I was uncomfortable and to please act like a gentleman and leave me alone. The man starts yelling and cursing me like crazy, calling me every vulgar name in the book, then verbally takes on the nice gentleman. Apparently the first lady had called the cops and since we were conveniently downtown, they pulled in and I pulled out. What a way to start the day! I'll find another location for future purchases, but it ruined my morning and I'm far from a Nervous Nellie and not easily fazed. This time of year brings all the crazies out for sure.

There are nutcases all over, Katy - sorry you had to encounter one. Too bad you couldn't stay to talk to the cops, but then I suppose the first lady didn't either, and that's understandable - you just want to get away from the jerk, and I'm not sure what the cops would do beside issue him a warning.

At 5 ft, if you only knew how big he looked to me! I couldn't get out of there fast enough, Phil. And not like he'd don't anything worth booking him for, but I wanted no part of it.

Oh my gosh, what the heck was I saying? Double negatives and all!!! There is no telling as I am not of sound mind! Totally off topic, but my bi-polar g'son is going to drive us all to the loony bin and he won't take his meds. It's one of the worst things we've ever been through, including cancer. Kindly overlook anything I post, as I am not at a good place, nor is the rest of my/his family. For sure, bi-polar is one of the worst afflictions I've ever known of and it's tearing our family apart. Now, moving on and forcing myself to put on a happy face. Thank you for allowing me to get that out!!!

That was me Katybug. I wasn't begging for money, I was handing out checks for $1,000 to everyone who wished me a merry christmas.

Darn it, RK, I missed out on the $$, but he didn't look like you with your kind face, far from it. And since I had just heard the other lady tell him to leave her alone, you could pretty much assume he was up to no good, then he proved it with the vulgar name calling. But I'll sure be on the lookout for you and your checks in future shopping!:)

I'm glad it was only a verbal altercation Katybug! who knows what the guy was up to.

Yeah, OH, especially with me standing there with my wallet in my hand. I cringe to think all I would have had to go through if he'd grabbed it, and it would have been ever so easy to do. I am so guarded and always looking over my shoulder. This is twice I've run back in the store I walked out of to avoid someone of his ilk! Last one was extending his arm to grab it off my shoulder but I could sense him there and high tailed it back into Lowe's. A lady in the parking lot said his hand was inches away from my shoulder strap.

It's the best advice I can give any lady carrying a wallet or purse, cuz they will grab it in a second at the first opportunity....but miss their chance if you turn around and run back inside for help!

My 85 year old mom carry's a gun in her purse, she has a concealed weapons permit, so it's all good.

Good for her. In this day and age, who knows?
Twice I have had a vagrant approach my car asking for money. One was really scruffy and he looked quite dangerous to be honest. After I told them I do not give my hard earned money to anyone and to please move away from my car, they both left. Had either one of them had become violent I would have had to put a neat little 9MM hole in my door. I hope I never have to use my weapon but it is there if ever I need it.

Awww Katy, that is a horrible thing to happen and I'm sorry about the family troubles too. I'm also very impressed that you have the energy and personality to put a smile on and look at the positive things in life. Good for you!
