Moved to Florida 10ish years ago and love it. Would not move back north. But to each their own.
We moved here due to the water for boating, but never gave it a thought what "brackish" water (fresh/salt) could do to a boat engine or outdrive. Well, it pretty much messed ours up and cost us as well. Another thing we didn't think about was all of the navigation stuff a person has to learn here. Have taken two USCGA classes and still didn't know what we were looking at on the water (buoys, signs, etc.), which is not on fresh water lakes in Colorado.
Not until a few years ago, did we realize just how much we missed rodeo action and seeing farm/country stuff. Florida has these things, but not like living in Colorado. Then came the tropical storms and hurricanes. Mathew was right off of our coast and we could feel the outer bands of it and Irma really did hit us pretty hard.
IOW, even though we lived here since January 2009, we now know that the South and Florida just isn't for us. Forget the beaches, we really miss the Rockies.
