Living In An Area That Is Best Suited For You

Moved to Florida 10ish years ago and love it. Would not move back north. But to each their own.

We moved here due to the water for boating, but never gave it a thought what "brackish" water (fresh/salt) could do to a boat engine or outdrive. Well, it pretty much messed ours up and cost us as well. Another thing we didn't think about was all of the navigation stuff a person has to learn here. Have taken two USCGA classes and still didn't know what we were looking at on the water (buoys, signs, etc.), which is not on fresh water lakes in Colorado.

Not until a few years ago, did we realize just how much we missed rodeo action and seeing farm/country stuff. Florida has these things, but not like living in Colorado. Then came the tropical storms and hurricanes. Mathew was right off of our coast and we could feel the outer bands of it and Irma really did hit us pretty hard.

IOW, even though we lived here since January 2009, we now know that the South and Florida just isn't for us. Forget the beaches, we really miss the Rockies.

Ron moved down here from up north because he hated the winters up there. I'd like to move away from Nashville because I hate the summers here!

Really the only thing I dislike about Nashville is the weather in the summer....the humidity makes me feel so logy and is very draining. Thankfully most of the time I work inside so it's not that bad.

Other than that I like Nashville. It's not a huge place like California or New York though it's grown incredibly in the last 15 years.

On the other hand, I'm the kind who will make the best of wherever I am, whatever I've got. I make friends easily, am assertive about going after what I want and the things I like to do, so my geographical location at any given time hasn't constricted my reach to do whatever interests me.

Well, when the area offers a person nothing anymore AND definitely isn't cowboy/Western/rodeo...…..it's time to move, not adjust. We know what we miss and really, really want back, even though "Old Man Winter" is there. The pace is much slower there as well.

No place is absolutely perfect. We lived for years in a WA state community that was close to Utopia for us, except for one thing, and it turned out to be a big thing: our nearest child, in CA, was 1000 miles away! We finally moved back to MD to be near our son. CA was unaffordable.

So I like my community and my life here, though I would not call it Utopia. The downsides: too crowded, too much traffic, summer weather is horrible. As the late, wonderful Gilda Radner would say, it's always
somthing.

.

I have "bloomed where I was planted" = Dallas, Texas.

It suits me just fine... except even the mild winters here are too cold for me and this year there has been too much rain.

CR, since you dislike the area so vehemently, when are you moving back to Colorado? If I detested where I live that intensely, I wouldn't hang around, I'd move and pronto.

It’s very cold there right now. Will wait until at least June 1st. Wife will continue working where she is, until the company moved to Alabama sometime this coming summer. Don’t want to move our boat in the middle of the winter either. Plan on having it transported in the middle of May.

Neither of us like living here, but have to for awhile longer.

Actually it’s not that cold there now. Parker is warmer than we are today. My niece lives there and it’s 56 in Monument where my sister lives.

Also, wow, only a few more months and you’ll be moving. Have you finally decided on a city? I know you mentioned a few.

There is a warm spell going on there right now. By this time next weekend the northern end of Colorado will be back to a daytime high of 40 to 45 degrees.
Will be settling into the northern end of the Front Range around Ft Collins or a little south of there.

We keep telling each other that we should have never left Colorado.
The Great Western Stock Show and Rodeo is this month. Will miss it, but next year.

My sister mentions Fort Collins a lot. Her youngest daughter went to college there..at least her first four years. Think she rides her horse there in competitions a lot also.

Ive never been there though when visiting.

Cody..I'm not in the habit of disclosing Private Messages sent to me by anyone...I kinda feel a little offended that you would think I would..

That’s fine, but you and CeeCee get along so well, that I figured you’d mention what told you.

She isn’t exactly a stranger.

For the record, Holly didn’t PM me anything and that’s why I didn’t know what you were talking about Cody/CR.

I thought she might and that would’ve been ok with me. I just thought she might. The message I sent her wasn’t THAT personal (to me anyway).

regardless of who may or may not be a stranger, a private message, is just that Cody... something someone has entrusted me with, and I wouldn't betray that trust, nor do I expect others to do it to me... !!

Ok, Ok, Holly. Sorry!!

Now, let’s get back to the thread.

Appears to me that most everyone is happy right where they are. That’s good, but I’m sure there are those, not on this forum, that would love to move to somewhere else. Somewhere of maybe “more liking”.
