Living in the absence of Faces! How are you masking?

I’m constantly aware of people’s body language when I go out and particularly the eyes. The eyes speak volumes without even seeing the rest of the face or hearing a voice so I usually read people by their eyes.

Well, when I wear the mask, you can't see the eyes because my specs fog up. What's worse is that I can't see what I'm buying. Went to the store this AM for apples, and came home with a bag of tomatoes.

I hate masks, looking at them, and have not worn one yet.
Awful, awful trend, like a horror show. Stressful to see them.
I hate them too. Some people look like they've been wearing the same one for a while. I saw someone with an actual rag wrapped around her head. It's dystopian, nightmarish. Do it for the good of all. Blah.

now that the stores are opening here in georgia there has been a shooting not too far from my house--while every thing was closed their wasnt any crime

Only a few wear masks up this way, mostly when the cottagers come up from the big city.
Friend asked me how many I thought were from the city. I told him to count them coming out.
Small store, I bought ground beef, tomatoes and some coleslaw. Coughing all the way.
Less than 3 minutes 15 people left carts and went out the door. I followed them, the owner was a tad
put out.... 😇 😇
No, I did not pick any TP out of the carts.

Sometimes it's difficult to tell if someone is mad with the mask.

I've had co-workers tell me they miss seeing my smile. It is difficult looking at yourself in the mirror every day at work while washing your hands and seeing that mask and being constantly reminded of this thing all the time. And now most of our department is masked and it's weird not seeing their faces. Not knowing when or if I will. I just hate this whole COVID19 thing. I hate it what it's done to our lives.

I hope you don't pick up the virus and give it to someone else, then. Please stay in.
Just heard last night that Fauci, the head of the FDA and the head of the CDC were all in quarantine for 2 weeks! Also heard quite a few secret service agents had tested positive for covid-19.

Wear a mask for the good of others, none of us know if we could infect someone else. We wear bandanas. If you fold them right, they make a great 4 layer mask that is quite comfortable and easy to wear.

I made three masks. They were OK but if I had to talk with them on they would begin to slip down off my nose. Didn't want to use a metal strip because it would eventually rust with all the washing. I decided to sew two 1/4" darts midway at the top, one on either side of where my nose would be. Nice tight fit now.
Do you have a picture that you can post? I am making them by fitting a fat pipe cleaner to the bridge and sides of my nose, with clearance for my oversized lenses; then I add two pipe cleaners to the ends to cover the width of my mouth and trim/bind them under my chin. I then add pipe cleaners on two places on each side to encircle my ears. I hand stitch tee shirt material to the main frame. This has enough give to allow a dust-filter mask underneath, plus additional filter material if needed. Other masks were too large, slipped down, or made my glasses fog. This method worked. I'm just not sure yet if I will have a problem with rusting once they are washed. I haven't gone anywhere in months, so my need isn't pressing.

I have a number of cloth homemade ones that have been given to me. In our building we have to wear them when we go out of our apartments. That is fine with me since I really love my neighbors and some of them are in their nineties or are a risk. I hate wearing it because I get really hot normally without one so this makes me even hotter. Saves me money on lipstick!

Ha - my camera graphics program failed, but I found software on this laptop that takes photos... This is what I was describing. The red sections were needed extensions because I underestimated the size of my ears!

Just two little tucks at the top, on the inside, about 2 inches apart.
I think pipe cleaners are less likely to rust. All I had on hand was bare wire so I would probably have a problem. Your method sounds good. If it works for you then keep using it.

I run on the hot side too .. not looking forward to summer heat, wearing a mask.

Here's a tip for those with cloth masks: Wash them in the washer along with the rest of your wash, but don't put them in the dryer. I made that mistake, and the mask came out about half its size!
I put our homemade cloth masks in a gentle wash and put them in the dryer for 10 minutes, then hung them on doorknobs to air-dry them.

I pinch the thin metal strip to fit the bridge of my nose, but still, my glasses get fogged up. The one freebie we got was worn twice - then the elastic broke, so it was pitched. I can imagine how hot and uncomfortable they will be in the warmer months. Still .. gotta do what we gotta do.
As a cold-fearing person, I actually discovered that the mask warmed the air coming into my body in our frigid spring and my body was grateful! Last year, I was very heat intolerant - Now, that I am on a blood pressure medicine, I don't think it is still a problem. For folks with breathing issues, they may have to go to the bare minimum of masking - perhaps just one layer of cotton. Something is better than nothing - and folks do need to breathe, especially if they are over-heating!
