London To Become A Construction Site? Affordable Housing & Public Land

I don't know how people who are service workers, or clerical, or cleaners, etc afford to live and work in London! My niece is a chef but she lives in a huge apartment with about 5 roommates.
 
Big city living any where seems to be the opposite of how they started out centuries ago. A place to live AND work. Now they seem to be a destination only.
 

That's like in Vancouver and Toronto. The prices are crazy high! The first condo my husband and I ever bought was in Vancouver ($68,000 or thereabouts seems right if memory serves) but now I think it would cost over $200,000.00 for the same 600 sq.ft. suite. And condo's haven't gone up in price at the same rate either as houses!

Whistler, BC is even crazier for prices for condo's. My daughter used to live in one that on the regular market was costing about $1000.00 per square foot which meant you'd pay $1,000,000.00 for a 2 bedroom apartment.

When we move back to BC we'll be settling in an area outside of Vancouver called Chilliwack. Prices are much more reasonable (considering that it's BC).
 
London is one of the most expensive in the world. Population is over 8 million. My husband lived and worked just outside of London for 18 years. If you live outside of London but need to take the train in to work it costs a small fortune. I love to visit London, but to live...nope!
 
If he's aiming for housing for mower paid workers in the UK then he's aiming for immigrants.

The reason the President of Nigeria asked for some of the money back during the recent corruption row is that most of the tens of millions of the corrupt money in Nigeria ends up buying London property.
 
In my opinion there has been too much emphasis placed on Sadiq Khan being a Muslim, the man was born and raised in London and has been a Member of Parliament for a London Borough for 8 years.....Religion should not come into it.
 
In the UK we don't pay any heed to what religion somebody is, so the Mayor can be a Muslim, Jewish, Christian, or atheist.
