Looks OK, Right?

So yesterday I had my semi-annual checkup at Drs. And every time I go there, my blood pressure is always very high. 154/95. But when I'm home, I take my pressure just about every day, it is fine. I do take meds for HBP.

My wife calls it White Coat syndrome, but I guess I'll never understand it.
Here's my BP this AM.

Both my husband and myself have elevated blood pressure when we (rarely) visit the doctor, I'm sure it's stress-related. Otherwise, our blood pressure is normal. If the doctor takes the reading at the beginning of the visit, and again at the end, it's always lower the second time.

I have that same problem, but I am pretty sure what causes it to happen with me. At home, I have the little Homedics wrist gadget that i use and it sends the results to my iPhone app for homedics.

When I go to the doctor, she puts that cuff on my arm, squeezes it up over 200, lets it come back down to 150, and then pumps it up again. After about three times of this, she will then let it come back down, but by then. I am in so much pain in my arm that I am holding my breath, and have tightened up all of my muscles.

So, when my doctor comes in, he grumbles that my BP is way too high, and just telling him that it is never like that at home doesn't help. The nurse is a very nice lady, so I didn't want her to be in trouble, and didn't tell the doctor about what happens.

HFL, My BP does the same thing. My Dr. asked me to take my own BP mid mornings, and then again in the late afternoon. I have a calendar app on my Kindle Fire, so I chart my BP, and show it to my Dr. when I go in to see her.
You really should speak of the problem with the nurse to your Dr. Your Dr. can't diagnose properly if he doesn't know what is causing the problem. She might need re-instruction. Better her be a little embarrassed, than you or someone else having bad diagnosis.
What would we do without your daily input. :bighug:

I take my readings with me for past two weeks and show the nurse and the doctor. He doesn't seem overly concerned about it and tells me to keep taking them at home. If they get high then, call and find out what to do about it.

Yesterday, like you HFL, she pumped it up twice and the second time it hurt like heck. I do wonder if they really understand the darn thing.

About 4 years ago i saw a new male Doctor, he took my blood pressure and i was in a good deal of pain, when i got home i had a look, my arm was black & blue a huge bruise, i went back next day to get something and showed the receptionist , she was shocked. Obviously he hadn't put it on properly so that my skin was caught up in the cuff. I never saw him again. :hit::tapfoot:

You know me - a conspiracy fan to the end.

Thanks - I won't be here much, though, as I see Matrix's Alexa rating has gone up since I stopped coming here.

... I can take a hint. ;)

I have toned it down a lot too, Phil. Seems my antics were not appreciated by a few so have cooled it down. I, for one, enjoyed your comments.
And now, back to the thread.

As I told some of you I am going back to school so my time and mental energy are a little limited right now. However, I do try to catch up on the site daily. The humor here is what attracted me in the first place and I miss the humor. Phil with your Taoist training why would care about the rating. There are a lot of other variables that could be effecting it anyway. I agree with everyone here we want the humor back. Humor is such a healing thing. Humor is such a gift please all of you continue to share.

May as well tell ya this... When it was finally time for me to get out of the service (once they realized I was still alive and not much use to them any longer as my four years were up), during the separation physical my blood pressure was too high and they said I had to stay. WTF?!?!?!? Gee, I wonder why it was high after surviving the goddamned war!!! So, I had to amble over to sickbay everyday for a week, lay on a cot for an hour and they would check it again. I was probably never calmer in my life. Relax, relax, relax . . . blood pressure dropping, dropping, dropping. Surprised it didn't end up being too low and I would still have to stay . . .

Good point.

I don't care about the rating as it effects me - certainly, not at all. I am only concerned for Matrix, this forum and its members.

Alexa ratings are based upon the number of people using the Alexa toolbar (or its browser plug-in equivalents) that visit a site. The scale is set up inversely, so the lower the number the higher the rating. I have watched as, immediately after my departure, a 490k-something rating went to its present 413k. That means there is more Alexa-based traffic coming here.

Now, the Alexa toolbar / plug-in is mainly used by tech-savvy people, and tech-savvy people tend to be interested in more serious discussions. Since I was the court-jester here and since the forum's rating has increased since my departure, I can only assume it is because of the reason I stated earlier.

I would certainly hate to question your inestimable intelligence and reasoning, Sifu; but in this case, I do believe it has led you astray. The group consensus is that you are an important part of this forum, and we all value your contributions.

Therefore, you need to "bite the bullet" on being right this time, and forget about this leaving #%$&%@# idea ! !
