Lost in the Fifties

Oh yeah, remember it well!!Still have a few books of those green stamps somewhere. Used them to get my first set of real crystal iced tea glasses. Crazy thing is I still have them and use them every day!!

Can't help but think those of us that grew up in the 50's and recognize all that was in the video are really lucky. As Bob Hope would say Thanks For The Memories.

Most of that which happened in the 50's USA didn't get to the Uk 'till the 60's and I remember it well even tho' I was young .

The past indeed was a foreign country they did things differently there... and how I yearn for most of it...

What happened, for Lords' sake someone must be able to tell us what happened? :why:

The 50's were a much calmer, easier time to live for us kids. We had rules to live by and they had to be adhered to. Kids showed respect to our elders, or else. No back talk or trying to show up the teacher. Kids didn't sit in the house playing video games because we didn't have such things and even if we did, I know that I would have heard my parents favorite line, "Why don't you kids go outside and play?" And the worse thing in the world that could happen is if you were sent home from school with a note to give to your parents.

I remember it all very well. In the video, ironic that the picture of the iron lung came just after the cigarette ad. At that time though I believe it was used more for polio ?

I only knew one person [a guy I worked with] that developed polio , horrible disease !
