Lovely Smell...

Another open window guy here.

l live in Florida and don't run the a/c much even during the summer. So I've always got all the windows and front door open and fans going, pulling in fresh air from outside.

Even in the winter it has to go down well into the 40's before I'll close all the windows and front door.

I think we are bombarded with too many artificial scents. Yesterday, I was shopping for laundry detergent, and had to do some serious searching before I found one that did not say Garden Fresh, or Spring Freshness, or something else like that. I do not like my clothes coming out of the drying smelling like they were dipped in perfume. I'm with the open window people.

Air purifiers, wood stove, pot with essential oils on wood stove, scented candles, febreeze fabric spray, scented mist devices with added essential oils, freshly baked cookies , muffins or sweet bread which I’d probably make if company were coming and fresh coffee.

Always open windows and doors unless weather is extreme. Plus a quick spritz of 91% alcohol aimed toward ceiling fan seems to clean air of any unpleasant odor without leaving an artificial smell. If anything, it just smells clean. It evaporates before it hits the floor.

Alcohol is an ingredient in most air fresheners so can't be so bad if used alone. It's cheap, can be bought in its own spray bottle and has many other uses. It is flammable so never use near open flame.

Open windows folks...

What about security, especially while you're sleeping?

Window security clips....

The sell them cheap in any home improvement store.

Open the window about a foot or so, clamp one down to the frame on each side and the window can't be opened any further.

Of course, you only want to do that in the room you're sleeping in because any attempt to reach in and loosen the clip would likely wake you up, unlike in other rooms where a slight noise wouldn't wake you.

You can also buy those aluminum screen door grills that keep your pets from pushing through the screen. A little bit of cutting to size and modification, and you can keep anyone from reaching in to loosen the clips, too.

my windows are open all year round ...
i have the beach at the front of my house, and the south downs, countryside behind ..
they say , bake bread , if your selling your house !!.smells delightful ...😤

Fry up some fish or bat wings, which typically decreases the length of time visitors stay.

On a serious note I'm a window opener as I don't care for the perfume smells. However, my wife loves the essential oils.

I have a vanilla scented candle that I've had for decades. It came in a tin with a lid. It's lasted so long because I use a candle warmer. That makes the room smell so nice. Or I can spray my vanilla scented Ozium.
