Lovely view of my area

earlier today I guess, doesn't look so bad, just got a warning on the news things are getting worse and to be on alert, seems something is about to make land pretty soon in this area. Lets hope, I won't have to use any flotation devices, I don't have a paddle in case any gators float by. :D I'm surprise I still have power, probably not for long.

This is the light stuff, some areas are flooded and cars are under water.

this one from yesterday

on better days.

OK, things are starting to act up. better post this before I lose power.

Thanks all, so far, so good, I don't expect too much damage near me, my building is pretty study, more hoping we don't lose power. I do have head lamps, but, I'll hate to lose all my groceries. I also more concerned for those who live in less than sturdy places and on lower ground. I'm one mile in from the beach, but, I'm up on higher ground, but will see, we don't usually get hit too hard in Sarasota, but ever so often Tornadoes touch ground, and you can't foresee where they'll go. I'm just a scardy cat when it comes to thunder storm sounds mostly and especially lightening, well not the kind with the sound effects. The lightening hasn't started up, so, I'm not hiding on the floor just yet. LOL! Yep the floor will protect me.

I'll keep you all posted if things get really dicey, but, not likely anything serious will happen to me unless I die of fright. :D

It has to be so hard to be stuck and know you just have to ride it out. If you die of fright, send your ghost to us, okay? I write ghosts into my books. :D

Oh how I wish I could come back as a ghost, there so many I'd want to haunt. But sure, I be a nice ghost too some of the time so you could write me into your books. :)

Have you ever had those who have passed on come to you in your thoughts and dreams in ways that seem more than just memory? It happens to me. Now I could just have an active imagination, but if the afterlife is real, then they definitely visit me. My ghost characters are usually like those who still are in human form, but now they know things they didn't know before. They are the next evolutionary step in enlightenment, etc. So if you could come back you could teach me stuff.

My loved ones who have passed on are in my dreams often, not so much in a spirit sort of way, but, they live there, we are together living life as normal. If it where up to me, that's where I would stay and never wake, I live for those moments as they feel as real as my waking life, but so much more as I'd want it to be. My siblings were almost everything to me. Not saying I don't make the best out of life as much as I'm able to, but, Id give anything to just stay asleep in those dreams.

I know what you mean. There are those I miss sooo much. Most of my older family are gone now. My sister and parents. A few of my cousins my age are gone now too. Two sweethearts passed away. I allow them to come to me. I'm trying to be more aware of them when I'm awake. One of them says, "Draw me unto yourself. Apply me to your pain." It's incredibly comforting.

Take care AprilT, and stay dry! Don't worry about dying of fright....got some ice cream in the fridge??? Chocolate syrup, or butterscotch? These items will protect you thru a tropical storm or a class 5 hurricane. ;)

Oh don't I wish I had some junk food on hand and especially some ice cream. Sigh, I didn't think to plan just in case it's a last meal ya know. LOL! I will cuss myself if I go out and don't get to have some cake and ice cream on my last night. Bummer :( just having a bit of fun :D

Thank you all for the encouragement, I'm not scared of no stinking tornadoes, well unless it gets too close to my window.

I hope things are going okay for you April. I wish I had some cake and ice cream, too. There have been tornado warnings and watches at times where I live and I have been real scared at times, too.

Thanks guys, all's well, still cloudy skies, rains expected, this is hurricane season so we can expect more of this to come, but also expect sunny days in between. I'll be sure to take advantage of the sunnier days, but, the coastal waters will be pretty rough which don't make for great times for wading in the waters, it hurts like heck when the water keeps knocking you around, not good for a bad back. Could be worse, at least, I can take advantage of the lovely scenery and just dip my toes at the water's edge. :) Better yet, just stay at the complex in get into the pool. :D

We drove back from Melbourne yesterday. We had no problems, but the Skyway bridge was closed. The causeway to Clearwater was fine.

I'm on the more southern end of Sarasota, they're still cleaning up the damage in some areas, other areas north of me had damage too, nothing too much mind you, this has all been quite mild, except to those who had significant damage done to their properties. We've had rain pretty much all day off and on down on this end of town.

Glad you arrived home safely.

I'm near Siesta Key beach area, just a mile inland. Not much footage of the damage available as yet, still not a major storm, but like I said some who suffered serious damage would say different.

We had a couple of other storms this year, hears what happened nearby back in Jan
