Lucid Dreamers May Be Savvier When Awake

I went through a spell where I was doing that.

Haven't done it in awhile.

I think I took something like melatonin a couple of times & it did something weird like that too.

I was kind of asleep & awake at the same time.

Melatonin does really make my dreams more vivid and detailed, good with nice dreams...not so good with nightmares.

I don't remember having dreams where I'm aware of dreaming but I often dream that I'm sleeping. Last night I was sleeping alone and I dreamed I was chilly and someone put a blanket over me and it felt so warm and cozy. When I awoke I was neither cold nor did I have a blanket.

I often have very vivid dreams. Not too long ago I had a very nice visit with an old friend who lives all the way across the country. It felt like we had actually had the kind of visit we had when we were young and I enjoyed it so much. I sent her an e-mail about it and she said she wished she could have one too.

My dreams are always vivid, and I don't take meds. Always been the same with me always extremely vivid dreams most nights. I feel more exhausted than rested after sleeping..Dunno about more savvy when I'm awake tho;, but I'll go read your link SB :D

I remember a few times where I could "steer" my dreams & make them go in a preferred direction.

I'd get to a point where I knew something was about to happen & I'd kinda understand that I didn't want whatever it was to happen, so I'd sort of make something else happen.

All the while, there was some sort of deeper recognition that I was dreaming.

I never knew there was a name for it but yes I do frequently dream in this manner. Article suggest that it is not really dreaming but rather a state between sleep and wakefullness.

I just don't like it when you have that floating sensation and then fall with a thud....that is unpleasant.

Sometimes I have lucid dreams, and part of me is aware that I am dreaming. For instance, I have noticed that numbers and letters mean nothing to me in a dream, and when I am looking at something with words on it, and can't read it; then part of me says to myself that it because "this a dream and you can't read letters in a dream", and then I kind of say OK back, and go on with the dream.
I really have not been able to try and change the dream, but I don't usually have bad dreams; so I just kind of go along with the dream.
I have listened to some subliminal suggestions about lucid dreaming, and that seems to help, too. I probably should do that more, and see if I can alter my dreams like you can SeaBreeze. Maybe they would get even better, then !
I take melatonin at night, and I think it has made me sleep better and my dreams seem to be more vivid, too.
