Makeup for Women, Bad or Good Experience?

Finding a coverage foundation for old skin that looks good is hard....I've tried many, I've had pretty good luck with Revlon Age Defying, Loreal Infallible Pro Glo and Milani Conceal, sometimes I mix different ones together with a drop of moisturizer, I wear very little eye makeup....I'd be interested in
knowing if any of you have found a really good foundation that you like and does not settle in the lines on your face.....Oh I forgot, I also like the tinted moisturizer for light everyday wear.
after years of spending fortunes on Foundation, and not finding a good fit including BB or CC cream.. I finally found a great one... recommended to me by a TV and film Make-up artist friend... No 7 Intelligent colour . I have slightly dry skin, which is kept in check with moisturiser... . On the odd occasion I use foundation, this NO 7 is really easy to use, and a tiny bit goes a long way..

I stopped wearing make-up about the time I burned my bra, some time in the late 60's. haven't regretted it; haven't looked back...
Good for you! No expert here, but the women I have seen with and without make up I always prefer the no makeup look. To me nature is preferable.

I never got into a discussion about this subject with my wife, but I know she doesn't like putting on make-up, unless we are going to church or a social event. I see her put a dab of lipstick on and that's about it. When we go to special functions like church and social events, she paints her face, as some of us men call it.

I enjoy wearing makeup and always do because it makes me feel better. I never had a problem or reaction to makeup except one and it was my fault. When I was 16 I bought a Yardley lipstick set and used the peach shade on my eyelids even though the package said not to!
o_O

My eyelids swelled up so badly I could barely see and I was very embarrassed because I had to go to school looking this way! It took a trip to the eye doctor to fix.

Ladies and Gents, thanks all for your contributions. It's lovely as my goals in my Crone phase (Wiccan part of the trilogy, Maiden, Mother, Crone) I just want to help my friends out. So a huge thank you, keep it coming, please?

I don't know if I should dare but shall we get into HAIR DYES after 50?

I'm pepper currently with bits of salt thrown in. Thankfully, I will take on the "Salt and Pepper" natural colouring from my paternal grandmother. Yippee woohoo!

Anyone recall the nose hair burning days of Clairol Marilyn Monroe platinum blondes (Yuck, couldn't breathe properly for 12 years, sorry!) The chemicals Youch!

Let me know, I'll get the ball rolling here, let's have fun?

PS any of you gentlemen, ever used Men's basic AVON cologne to gargle and have super white teeth?

I've never colored my hair and never will.

So if we are going to talk grey hair now.....I stopped dying mine two years ago, It did take about a year to grow out but worth it. Just got sick and tired of the dye job. Besides, grey cat, grey hair, we match now.
I think your hair looks lovely, Lee, and I'm sure your cat's hair is lovely, too. 😊

I think if we nourish our bodies properly, it will show up with healthy skin. I have enjoyed reading all your posts and @Wren's radiant image was particularly wonderful to see!
@Wren is that really you, I thought it was just a model for show. I just might switch makeup to what you are wearing, you look great gal!
Thank you ladies, my mother had wonderful skin, incidentally I do not post photos taken 10 years ago pretending they are recent, that one was last September on my 75th birthday ;) just posted to give an example of the foundation I use, as Jackie asked for recommendations

I quit wearing makeup when I retired. I only wear it on special occasions now. I am considering no longer dyeing my hair. I am only 3 months in and the only thing I have noticed is that my roots are dull and it appears to be a combination of white and brown. I was naturally a redhead for most of my life.

Interesting posts!

I only wear makeup when I go out. I do like it, but I'm not going to wear it at home.

That said, when I do use makeup, it's foundation, eyeliner, eye shadow, perhaps a little rouge, and lipstick of a sort. No mascara.

I also ... went to the trouble of finding organic makeup where I could. Yes, it costs more, but you get what you pay for.

Exactly @Lee I love my hair au naturel. During Pandemic tried to turn my whole hair Silver. Needless to say didn't work out.

However, after hubby died around July 2022, was detangling my hair and the nearly all of it fell out. At first I thought it was a reaction to losing husband, but it was only the burnt damaged stuff falling off.

Underneath, had my natural colour back as well as my curls. Currently, pepper with a bit of salt. Just dislike the fact that so many girls in their teenage years are dying their hair grey in purpose but then complain when we keep our grey hair wanting to age gracefully lol lol lol!

I still match with kitty for now. Hubby turned grey, 5 months after daughter was born in 89, he had just turned 31. By 50 he'd gone white. All I know, it's in the genes...

My hair is brown, with some gray in it. I'm not dying it so far, and don't think I ever will. That stuff (the dye) is not good for you, anyway, and gets into your system via being in your hair.

My recipe for a healthy life does not include pouring toxins onto my head. LOL

Not saying no one else should dye their hair. Just sayin'.

I don't wear makeup or dye my hair. I did buy some foundation a month ago, just in case I feel like wearing it again. Still have to stock up on the other stuff.

After chemo, my hair came back a different shade of gray (which I don't like), and is no longer somewhat curly, but is frizzy and all different lengths. I'm not going to do anything about it at the moment. I will get it cut when it gets a bit longer. I look on the bright side - at least I have hair.

My eyelashes are shorter. They used to be long and thick and dark. Now they are short, sparse and I may try false eyelashes if I start wearing makeup again. Meanwhile, I figure old people are basically invisible, so it doesn't worry me as far as what other people think is concerned.
