Male Karen Spits on Police Officer when asked to wear Mask

I had to look up the term "karen". Apparently, it is a term somebody recently made up to depict a woman who kicks up a fuss, such as demanding to see the manager and that sort of thing. So the OP post, referring to a "male karen" is to apply the term to men. This is the first I have seen the term, and that is always how it starts for me. Now that I have seen it, I will likely start seeing it everywhere until after a few weeks when folks get tired of it, the term just dies away. Occasionally, a term such as this will remain popular, so it will be interesting to watch this one.

As for the spitting, I think it is a shame that civilians can't be treated as upstart trouble makers were in the Army. Take them out back, beat the crap out of them, repeat until the person finally shapes up. There are some things we just should not tolerate even in civilian life.

Probably never wears a mask at home. Is hungry for meat. WALKs to store to buy meat (meat so that he can walk..ha). Suddenly someone surprises him with "You must wear a mask in the store." "Mask? That's stupid. I ain't gonna wear no mask." Police order him to. Suddenly, his legs give out because, as he says, I"M AN OLD MAN, you're preventing me from buying meat that I need so that I can walk."
lol And off he WALKS to jail, no meat in sight.

I didn't catch the jurisdiction, but with the Sheriff's Dept. that I worked he would have probably ended up with a broken arm.

I feel bad for all those with the name Karen. However, the behavior is ridiculous. I wonder if part of his brain is going out.

You can't be too careful. Too many co-workers testing positive and so far I've been lucky. One who I knew was shopping at Target (people were talking about it because the gift card we got didn't have the money on them at first. This co-worker found out when she tried to buy) Then she's positive and probably was while at the store.

Also co-workers not social distancing in the parking lot. They said only 2 in the break room at a time but I've noted them in there without masks. I eat in my car. I'm not even in parking lots without a mask.

I think we need a male name for "Karen".
There are a number of new words we need that have not yet been addressed. Referring to a single person as "they", we need a gender neutral term since "they" is really a plural (i.e. referring to more than one) term.

How would somebody decide that "karen" (with a lower case 'k') should mean:

Karen is a pejorative slang term for an obnoxious, angry, entitled, and often racist middle-aged white woman who uses her privilege to get her way or police other people's behaviors. (from dictionary.com, with many other sites agreeing)

...and why would other people think that term is something worth repeating instead of ignoring the term?

During the height of Beatlemania (another silly social phenomenon), Ringo Starr used the term "gear" to refer to something as being good. Nobody else used the term and it quickly was forgotten. That should happen to "karen", and then I would think all those women named Karen would be grateful. (y)

I agree that if "karen" refers to females, then males should have their own term. On the other hand, we already have plenty of words to describe such a person, male or female, so why do we need yet another?

Of course, the term "tony" (marked by an aristocratic or high-toned manner or style, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary) is a term that has been around a long time. Since it refers to something positive, I don't mind.

Is the wearing of the mask a law ? or a Sherriff's edict ? Laws must be made through a legislative body... As such does the officer have the authority to demand someone [too] wear one?

All the local LEO's have stated that they do not & would not even go there ....... 'we will not become the mask police' or words to that effect. Now the spitting? ..... is a whole other thing.

It's not law here indoors, but supermarkets or anywhere do have the right to refuse admission ...if you refuse to wear one. ..However some people are excempt who have breathing problems...not this nutter, obviously

Those Las Cruces New Mexico police officers were the very definition of patience and professionalism. According to the time stamp this occurred July 12th.
