The man charged with throwing eggs at newly minted King Charles and Camilla, Queen Consort, during their “walkabout” in York, England, on Wednesday has been banned from carrying eggs in public as part of his bail condition. That is, unless he’s coming back from the grocery store.

“They thought about [it] and said, actually that’s a bit harsh, what happens if he wants to eat some eggs?” Patrick Thelwell said of his bail hearing in a Thursday phone call with Jezebel.

His amended punishment stipulates that he must have a receipt if he’s coming back from the grocery store with eggs."

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but eggs will never hurt me.

OK, that's not news to anyone, but egging the King? It's just pointless vandalism, but most likely it was just an accident. Eggs are not the problem. They will only take away my eggs when they pry them from my cold dead fingers. Eggs don't egg people. People egg people.

what a ridiculous Rag in the OP... ''teddy bear and toilet seat ''.. wth ... I hope I haven't infected my computer with anything after clicking on that link..

This guy hasn't even appeared in court yet...

A man arrested after allegedly throwing eggs at King Charles and the Queen Consort during a public visit says he has been charged with an offence and banned from carrying eggs in public. Patrick Thelwell, 23, says he is the man who was arrested after eggs were thrown at the King and Queen Consort in York on Wednesday.

Patrick, a student at the University of York, said he was held by police for several hours. Speaking to The Mirror, he said: "I was let out at 10pm so it wasn’t that bad really. My friends were waiting for me. My solicitor was very good.

“After I was arrested the experience of that crowd, literally screaming and wailing with pure rage. Saying that my head should be on a spike, that I should be murdered on the spot.

"It doesn't phase me because I understand what fascism is, what it looks like.

“People were ripping chunks of my hair out, they were spitting at me. People lost their minds.”

“It's just so revealing to see when you challenge someone’s beliefs in that way, the belief of the superiority of this man’s blood.”

Asked why he targeted the King, who has been trying to raise awareness about climate change for decades, he said: “If that is what we take as someone who has done the most for climate change it shows you how low the bar is!

“This is a man who dresses in stolen jewels from India and Africa and every other colony.”

Patrick said his bail conditions include not being allowed to be 500 metres within the King and not being allowed to possess any eggs in a public place.

Although he says they had to alter that condition so he could go grocery shopping. He said he has been charged with Section 4 public order offence and due in court on December 1st.

Talking about the incident, he said: "I've had death threats, people on DM, instagram, saying: “If I’m not careful I'm going to get my head cut off’," he said.

“People (the public) were kicking me. Of course they were. I challenged the very core of their identity.

“The police tried to stop me saying what I was saying."

Asked why he tried to pelt the King with eggs, he said: "I did what I did because I don't believe in kings. I believe in the equality of all people. It's a protest against the state of this country and the descent into fascism.

"We have a Government that are enacting fascist policies particularly by their treatment of refugees. The media whipping up hatred."

Hmm, I know of one president that I’d like eggs to be thrown at 😂😂😂 by anyone, by everyone but to name names would be a political statement and I would, once again, be banned.
yes but you're an American Aneeda.. you can say that... however Americans are the very first people up in arms if anyone other than an American says anything derogatory about anyone leading their country..yet here, we're supposed to think it's funny when it;s a Brit.. not any Brit but the Monarch..

Ok egg throwing might not be the greatest crime in the world..but posting a link denigrating our Monarch with posts about carrying teddy bears and toilet seats and finding it highly amusing that someone tried to attack him.. needs addressing.. if you can't take it as a nation when someone does it to you .. then don;t give it out!! (not personal to you Aneeda) ..the Monarch being attacked is not remotely funny..

I said anyone anywhere, which would include non Americans. I will go a step further. The president I refer to should take his youngest son to a zoo and stand in front of the monkey cage. Closely in front of it. Monkeys don’t throw eggs. 😂😂😂. This is NOT a political statement.

yes we know who you're referring to.. but when he was president, there would have been an outcry on here by many if a Non American had made derogatory comments about him.. and in fact there was...

Take it easy Holly. My point in that link was making fun of the egg thrower and his bail condition. I didn't even see the item about Charles and his toilet seat! (Altho' that's been often reported.)

Jeeze.....

I see your point of view. I have thought about it. I realize to you and perhaps other Brits it’s not funny.

Would it be funny if eggs were thrown at our current president? Yup. Although the person who did it would be jailed for a very long time and become infamous. Was it funny when Khrushchev threw a shoe in the UN? Yup. That incident is famous. I think he threw it at our president but I can’t really remember.

Throwing eggs at King is funny. I am sorry, but it’s true.

Edited, duh me. He pounded his shoe in the UN on 12 Oct 1960. But I know someone somewhere threw a shoe, can’t remember who or where

Not sure all are, I am equally open to opinions no matter the citizenship or location of the person offering it. Its always informative to know what others think of our leaders, and sometimes I agree. Even if I don't so long as its a reasonably well thought out opinion I appreciate hearing it.

However I know that the Royals fall into a different category, harder for us to understand as we have none. Hard for me to imagine holding people in such high regard simply because of an accident of birth, but I respect the views of those who do. And I know some of y'all would not agree with my characterization of "an accident of birth" but it looks that way to me.

On the other hand I am sure we have some celebrities who do not deserve the recognition either.
