Marines attacked in CA

Am wondering about the details. While I'm glad it didn't go that way, I know that Marines are trained to use deadly force. Wonder if they were rather drunk to end up on the ground that way, but aware enough to protect their heads and curled up to protect other vulnerable body parts.

That news article was broadcast nationally here in Canada, on CBC CTV and Global TV. Just because a man is a Marine does not mean they are a super warrior, especially against a crowd of 9 attackers. At last report, 9 people have been arrested and charged with various criminal offences. JimB.

After I read about this, I was ready, willing and able to take about 5 of my top men down there and kick ass all over that beach. I originally read there were 17 youths. I know 5 well trained Marines could make mashed potatoes out of these punks. It’s not about the numbers, it’s about the training.

We have a special forces outfit named “MSOT” or Marines Special Operations Teams. It would only take 5 of those men. And these men are only trainees.

Sounds like a stupid drunken brawl, nothing new and I don't see much political about it. Just stupid kids.

Worse things have happened.

Even stupid drunken kids need a grown-up lesson from time to time. It’s what we call “Handing out an attitude adjustment.” If they are willing to put up their fists and take on 17 Marines, they should prepare for the worse to happen.

What if a unit from Pendleton in San Diego would have decided to make a visit to the beach a weekend after. You think that it would have ended good for these kids? Doubtful. We had a similar situation in Korea back in the mid 80’s. A Korean girl was raped by an American soldier. Not sure of the branch. There was a bunch of young teens seeking revenge. About 40 of them went to a bar where a lot of servicemen and women hung out in the evenings. This was on a Thursday night. There were approximately 20 servicemen and women were inside. When a few came out, the fight was on. Once the word got back inside of the fight, the other service people decided to come to the aid of their brothers and sisters. It took all but about 15 minutes for the rumble to end with the Americans chasing the kids away, some hurt pretty badly. This caused a bit of a ruckus inside the state department, but they worked it out. There was also 1 in Italy I remember, but the only thing that came out of that was our Colonel saying, “Those Italian boys sure know how to use their fists.”

Used to be a favorite saying in Texas "One Riot, One Ranger"

I have found probably in the last 20 years that one on one fighting has gone away. It’s easier to win if you have a gang with you to beat up a couple of guys, especially if they are unarmed.
