She looks amazing at 81. But she went to prison for dumping stocks based on insider information she got from her stock broker. You are not supposed to do that, although I'm sure it's done all the time on a much larger scale by Wall Street insiders, who are not inclined to blab about it to someone else. She was the really small fish in a pond full of much bigger fish, but an easy catch that didn't harm the bigger fish.

When she went to jail, stock prices in her own corporation went down because of a potential management vacuum I guess. My brother-in-law bought a bunch of stock in Martha Stewart Inc., and then he sold it at a nifty profit when she was released.

Well her hair is the same shade and style as mine. It sort of looks like that if I've just done it and haven't encountered a drop of humidity. If I took some adhesive tape and tacked up my jawline just under the earlobes, then wrapped myself in a huge taffeta sheet and crossed my good knee over the one with the scars. I could look pretty good, too!
 
Convicted of illegal stock trading. Didn't scream at the rooftops she was above the law. Consequences meted out and she spent time in prison. While in prison, mentored a number of fellow prisoners. Tried to make what was a mistake on her part into something that could help others. The pictures show her as a remarkably beautiful 81 year old. I don't care how much the photos might be "doctored".

As well as having been a fashion model, Martha was also a stockbroker.
Then, she became a homemaking and cooking maven with multiple TV shows and her own magazine.

Are these true feminists fighting for women of all ages to be treated with respect, or just savvy businesswomen promoting their brands?

Martha Stewart claims she’s breaking down barriers and challenging ageist stereotypes by posing in nine different swimsuits for Sports Illustrated, the oldest cover girl in the history of the magazine. Last year, Elon Musk’s mother Maya, graced the cover at the age of 74. Now, Martha has made headlines around the world with a series of pictures in which she frolics on a beach in the Dominican Republic, brilliantly photographed by Ruven Afanador.

This version of what it’s like to be 80 is far removed from most women’s experience. The pictures are cleverly retouched, the framing is flattering, and Martha Stewart has amazing legs and a wonderful smile. But I can’t help feeling that shoving your cleavage towards a camera, no matter how great the skin tone might be, is a huge step backwards for womankind. We don’t seem to have moved on very far from those Wonderbra ads of yesteryear.

Martha has revealed it took TWO WHOLE MONTHS to get ready for this photoshoot and morph from Domestic Goddess to Covergirl. It sounds a tough regime - no bread, alcohol or pasta. She increased her Pilates classes to three times a week, had even more facials than usual as well as a full body wax. As for surgical help, she admitted to using fillers ‘'for a little line here and there'’ and has used Botox in the past.

This isn’t ageing gracefully, it’s a boot camp approach to staving off normal sagging and wrinkling. A regime that only the very wealthy with plenty of time to spare could ever adopt. The message seems to be - you can look this good if you are prepared to dedicate every day to achieving this phoney perfection, and then be photographed with your body contorted into a flattering pose (easy if you’re a yoga devotee) and make sure you can afford a great dentist.
 
oh dear sounds like a bit of hard cheese to me dear? - yes we know we all can't do it but lets celebrate a few having a go and cheerin the rest of us up for a few moments ? Some of us say we've seen angels occasionally - would we doubt them?

That's really very good. I hadn't thought of the event from a feminist point of view, but stopping to think about it, it does promote an idea that women should be trying to be a certain type of desirable into their old age. Men are never expected to look sexy in their 80's and if a male celebrity tried and another man made fun of him for it, I'll bet he wouldn't be accused of being jealous.

It's natural for both genders to want to attract the opposite sex when they're young and able to procreate or just wanting to find a partner for life, but there's usually no particular need for that later. Most older women are more concerned with their health, their grandchildren, and their hobbies, than with looking good in a swimsuit. I think they should be celebrated for themselves, rather than celebrated for managing to keep cellulite off their thighs.

I'm a fan of Martha's, but it's for her amazing accomplishments and the grace with which she took her legal punishment, not this.

The first picture and the last picture have different faces.. last picture has been filtered and photo-shopped..

However if someone in their 80's wants to showcase themselves.. even if it's fake.. then that's their prerogative.. and why not....

I think of my granny who was very old when she was 81.. 40 years ago... and would love to know what her views were on an 60 something posing like a 20 year old..
