Mass shootings - important safety information

Then, in the interest of honesty (instead of stolen valor), the police chief should say, "It has not been determined how the suspect died." That would prevent police from looking foolish later....like they did during the North Hollywood bank robber shootout. In that incident, police repeated said "We took the 2nd suspect down," not realizing that a news helicopter was filming above & clearly showed the suspect shooting himself.

Per Wikipedia: " Phillips likely received a gunshot wound to his left hand, based upon helicopter news footage that showed him react to pain.[30] At the same approximate time, LAPD gunfire struck the Heckler & Koch rifle that Phillips was firing, rendering it inoperable. LAPD injured Phillips by holding two places of cover, and prevented an easy getaway."

At 9:52 am, Phillips turned east on Archwood Street and took cover behind a parked semi-truck where he continued to fire at the police until his rifle jammed.[32] Unable to clear the jam, he dropped the rifle and drew a Beretta 92FS pistol, which he began firing. He was then shot in the right hand, causing him to drop the pistol. After retrieving it, he placed the muzzle under his chin and fired; he was simultaneously shot by a bullet that severed his spine.

You know what. That is a feeble excuse. It's completely irrelevant and unconnected.

If there were no car accidents it would not make any difference to the gun violence deaths and vice versa.

It's an illogical argument.

I agree, Camper. The number of car crashes is totally irrelevant, and using that statistic is just a way of trying to deflect attention away from the gun tragedy this country is living with. What on earth does one have to do with the other? You might as well throw in the number of deaths from Ebola, measles, heart disease, and bubonic plague, while we're at it!

I wonder if, among the gun worshipers in this country, at least there is now a little less fervor to the eternal (mis)quoting of the Second Amendment? At least as it pertains to assault rifles, which are military weapons designed to kill as many people as possible in the shortest amount of time? What possible justification could there be, particularly for selling them to anyone who walks into a gun store? At the very least, those instruments of hell should be immediately banned throughout the entire country.
