A massive 8 alarm fire at a construction site destroyed a future affordable housing complex in Redwood City near San Francisco.. Fire so big near by neighborhoods had to be evacuated. Over 100 fire fighters needed to put out the fire.

It was during the day and construction crews were on site. No reports of injuries so far
Ah, the evil is winning in that region too.

Been doing a lot of reading of affordable housing recently. We're sleep walking into a disaster.
Yup, especially with the large complexes. They started abandoning high rise low income housing projects years ago. That's what I don't get about this project. They found that there were fewer problems if low income residents were in more residential settingd including low rise apartments and housing in a regular neighborhood ie Section 8 housing in the US.

How sad. I'm sure that housing was needed badly. I wonder if it was arson. WhatInThe...I believe they came to the same conclusion about low rise apartments rather than high rises in my city. In fact, some high rise apartments were demolished and replaced with low rise and townhouse residences.

Authorities are investigating to see if it was arson.

Not connected - the following happened on the other side of the SFBA, about five years ago - an affordable housing project was arson-attacked three times by the same person, who thankfully was finally caught.
