"The explosion that blew out multiple floors of a hotel onto the streets of downtown Fort Worth on Monday also sent debris from two floors pancaking down into the subbasement, fire officials say.

The nearly 104-year-old 20-story tower is the current home of the Sandman Signature Fort Worth Hotel. An explosion on Monday sent glass and part of the building's facade onto 8th Street, damaging the sidewalk and road. Inside the building, there is tremendous damage to the first floor and subfloors under the building and street.

Here in North America natural gas has an added odor that smells like rotten eggs to make it noticeable when a leak occurs. Cold weather does not affect gas lines, BUT faulty connections or damaged pipes will leak gas. It is a heavier than air gas, so it settles at low points in buildings . Here in Canada natural gas is the most common form of heating and cooking available across the country. We export millions of cubic feet of natural gas to the USA every day, via a number of pipelines. JimB.

Of course there's a conspiracy theory about it, why wouldn't there be? This is highly likely to be a gas explosion. It's far more likely than a terrorist attack. Won't stop conspiracy theorists spinning their wheels!
