Matt Lauer states in part:

"There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions. To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry. As I am writing this, I realize the depth of the damage and disappointment I have left behind at home and at NBC. Some of what is being said about me is untrue or mischaracterized, but there is enough truth in these stories to make me feel embarrassed and ashamed.

It does seem like a 'wizard hunt' doesn't it, but it bothers me that someone can lose their job, career, everything based on one allegation not proven in court. I would have to believe that NBC had more information that proved him guilty.

He pursued a female Olympian with lewd suggestions and nude photos of himself. She had everything he sent to her, more than enough proof for NBC to lower the boom.

It's just hard to fathom how these "smart" people can be so "dumb". To not realize the potential consequences beforehand.....guess it's their egos or insecurities that drive them to have no boundaries.

Why on earth did he think she wanted to see a picture of his *****? He met her when he was in Rio for the Olympics. She wasn't interested, he was.

Yeah, what an ego. btw it was Sochi (Russia) winter Olympics 2014, not Rio.

Guys wanting to show pics of their *****...I never understood that. Maybe it's like women wanting to show their boobs.

I've heard of women talking to guys online and soon after chatting starts they ask if she wants to see pic of their *****. How romantic. NOT

Some guys think with their ***** and that's what gets them in trouble at times.

I'm a guy. All these women coming out with stories of actual sexual assaults is very disturbing. The stories are much the same. There's a person you can't say "no" to. And what is better the women can't tell. I assumed there was consensual sex in the office. But these women were nothing more than a receptacle. It's degrading to women, and objectifying them.
I never, ever thought I'd be a "women's libber". These assaults are on the same level as slavery.

When men require women to acquiesce to them like these situations, their power comes from debasing and humiliating women, forcing them against their will.

I heard all of Lauer's release. He said, "Repairing the damage will take a lot of time and soul-searching, and I'm committed to beginning that effort. It is now my full-time job." He really thinks he's going to cut to a commercial and come back? The only soul searching, he's doing, is praying there's no woman, whose rape was within the statute of limitations

One of the themes of second wave feminism was a complaint about women being treated as sexual objects when they should have the freedom to be sexual agents i.e. acting sexually according to their own desires rather than being used according to someone else's. That is what blow up dollies are for.

It seems that this concept has still not seeped into the conscious minds of some men who wield a lot of power over their employees.
