McDonald's Theft

Yesterday I went to McDonald's for a quick snack. I ordered 2 cheese burgers (hold the cheese) and a value drink. They don't list plain burgers on the menu. The price of the total order SHOULD have been $3.24 But the mgr tried to charge me $4.09
When I complained, I was told that if I didn't want cheese on my burger, it would cost MORE.

It is not the small extra money that bothered me, it is the principle. I view this as out-and-out theft.

McDonald's motto should be, "Have it our way, or the highway.":greedy_dollars::aargh:

I think they charge for any order that is not exactly on the menu. Time to go to Burger King, where you can "have it your way" :D

Ridiculous isn't it. Guess next time you have to just order the cheeseburger and scrape of the cheese.

I agree SeaBreeze, Burger King is my choice too.

Oh, I agree. Burger King is much better. It just happened that I was in Walmart yesterday (McD's inside) when the munchies hit me.

I doubt it will do any good what-so-ever, but I fired off 2 emails to McD's and scorched their tails but good.

Why don't you just order a hamburger. Never saw a McDonalds that did not have them. They already have the burgers made up and you wanted a special order. I order a hamburger as the others are too large for me. Love the mini mac but the promotion here has ended.

I think that you ran into a McDonalds where the manager went off the rails.
My normal order a small double quarterpounder meal. Cheese is standard. I have been ordering this WITHOUT cheese for ever since they started offering them, what 20, 30 years? Never have they upcharged me or even mentioned it.

Please come back with corporates response to your complaint.

Why didn't you order a hamburger?

I tried that. They don't sell or advertise on the menu, just plain ol' simple hamburgers. (at least not at any of the McD's in So. Cal)
They have a menu posted they call a $1, $2, $3 dollar "values". They do not have hamburgers on that menu. Just cheese burgers.
Go figure !

Just received my 1st email from McD's. They said that it is normal to charge more for a hamburger ($1.39) than it is for the exact same size but with cheese ($1.):saywhat:

I got them figured out. Some group of MBA's at McD's sat down and figured out that most people (99.99 %) would never notice the price difference. Thus, they can profit millions of dollars nation-wide by sticking it to the unaware.

I just replied to their email. I was polite but neither did I pull any punches.

They were wrong. I've ordered cheeseburgers with no cheese and it's always cheaper. In fact, one of their cashiers taught me to do it that way because it costs less than ordering 2 hamburgers.

Ah, playtime

Order the cheeseburger again
Hold the cheese
Hold the mustard
Hold the ketchup
Hold the bun
Hold the burger

Wait for the pickle

See what they charge

I just go there for the coffee
Goooood coffee
Their ‘burgers’ have sucked since the ‘60s when they were $.19
Even their pickles suck (not sure how they do can that to a pickle, but they do)

Burger King makes my junior burger

Even Wendys

When I get the munchies for a hamburger meal, I just order a kid's meal. Small hamburger, small fries, small drink. AND I get a toy! Win-Win!!!

It's just the right size for satisfaction without gluttony.
I do this too as I like a milk with my burger and I like the apple slices!

There is a common motto in fast food places. Note I didn't use the word restaurant.

The motto is.

"Good food takes time, your order will be ready in seconds"

I don't like McDonald's food. But I do think their coffee is great. That's the only thing I ever get there.

Same here. When we are out running around, we often stop at a McD for a cup of coffee....50 cents for a Senior coffee...and much better, IMO, than anything Starbucks sells, for several dollars. Once in awhile, we may have a McChicken sandwich, or a small order of chicken nuggets, but I don't care for Any hamburgers at a fast food joint. For a couple of months each year, McD sells their McRibs, and I like to have one of those.

I've had this, it's good Better than McD.

Burger King also has the best French Fries, IMO, for a fast food place. On my shift, which was third shift, I became a fast food expert. Most places offered us free food, but we are (were) not allowed to accept anything above free coffee, which I seldom mooched. I also liked Wendy's, especially their Chili. I used to carry a bottle "Red Devil" hot sauce, just to kick it up a notch.

We get the Happy Meal. My wife doesn't like catsup, so orders the burger without it. 99% of the time, she gets hers without it and no problem. She also like swiss cheese instead of regular cheese, so will get it without cheese. Again, no problem. But, and a big "BUT", most of the time we have to check the bag to make sure we got what we order. There are times that McDonalds and Taco Bell gets the order wrong and.........we don't want to get home and then find this out. Been there, done that.

One other thing, I've seen some MickyD's that were very clean and others, well, pretty bad. Really have to wonder what kind of manager is on duty. And, don't even go into some of the restrooms. Trash can fill-to-overflowing with used paper towels. But, then again, have found this in Target as well. Guess management just doesn't care about how the restrooms looks.

I wonder if the cleanliness factor is related to location. I drove a MediCab for a year, being a male over the age of 60,I became very familiar with most restrooms between Syracuse and Rochester.
Invariably, the closer one gets to the city proper, the messier the rest rooms are. I am thinking the small town restaurants and stores tend to have a better class of clientele and the staff probably takes more pride in their jobs.
We have a Mini McDonalds incorporated with a convenience store gas station. The rest room is always very acceptable. I think maybe because the customers know the staff and the staff knows the customers.
If I go into the bathroom and skank it up and trash it, chances are someone I know will be following me.

In an urban area folks are anonymous, and their pride tends to slip as they know their shortcomings will blend in their neighbors and not stick out.

I've never had a warm, fuzzy feeling about Micky D's. Have been to one in decades. A manager freaked out, when I wanted more the two packets of ketchup. OMG!!! I always felt that customer satisfaction wasn't high up on their goals list.

MD's has great coffee, but for me, it stops there as for greatness. Well, maybe from time to time, I will grab a breakfast sandwich, which is only average, but will do at the airport. No sausage. Too peppery for me.
