We had a hardtop Pontiac like your's only it was light blue and white.

I come from a long line of General Motors vehicle owning people. My husband too. Still to this day we wouldn't have a Ford if our life depended on it.

Pappy, those were some cars you had..I love the old body styles, that's when they really did have style. Davy, that was a cool Sunliner, I forgot about those.

My first car was a '55 Plymouth Savoy that my boyfriend palmed off on me when he wanted to buy a '60 something baby blue Dodge convertible. He was a die hard Plymouth/Dodge fan.

My fav and most hated car was a '78 Firebird Formula, what a beautiful piece of junk! It was in the shop more than it was on the road. No more Plymouth/Dodge products for me after this car.

Best looking car I owned was the Ford Sunliner,DANG the gals love that.

My first new car was a 1962 Ford Galaxie Convertible .(looked a lot like that picture) .. but it was black with red interior.
I loved that car!!

I had it exactly FOUR MONTHS when I was hit head on by an old drunk man!! He totaled that car out!
I went to the hospital to be checked out, but nothing broken, just bruises. I never got a convertible again.
And pretty much had Pontiacs after that.

Dang, I feel like a baby in this group! My first car was a '74 Dodge Dart - back when they made them like tanks, with the Slant 6, and in a Bowel Movement Brown color. It was originally my brother's, but after I used it to practice for my license he figured the body-work alone wouldn't be worth his time.

I went on to have a LOT of cars - I changed cars like my contemporaries changed their underwear - and right off the top of my head here's a list:

  • 1974 Dodge Dart
  • 1972 Triumph TR-6
  • 1974 Triumph TR-6 (set up for rallying)
  • 1970 Triumph TR-6 (Okay, I liked TR-6's!)
  • 1972 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible (in LA)
  • 1974 Lancia Beta (weird car!)
  • 1967 'Vette 427
  • 1971 'Vette convertible 350
  • 1988 'Vette convertible 350 (Yeah, I like 'Vettes too!)
  • 1971 Chevy Caprice Wagon 454 (carried full sheets of plywood and blew most other cars off the road)
  • Chevy Box van
  • Ford Bronco (full sized)
  • Honda Accord LX (had it all of 3 months)
  • 1974 Volvo 240DL (safe but boring)
  • Caddy Seville (with the bustle-back trunk)
  • 1991 Caddy Coupe de Ville (beautiful, powerful and comfortable)
  • 1976 Mercedes 450SL convertible
  • 1972 Porsche 914
  • 1980 Porsche 924
  • 1988 Porsche 944
  • 1978 Porsche 911SC
  • Buick Skyhawk (piece of garbage)
  • 1991 Plymouth Laser (another piece of garbage)
  • Chevy Blazer, full size (great vehicle)
  • 1973 VW Super Beetle (another great vehicle)
  • 1970 VW Karmann Ghia (fun car)

I'm sure there were plenty of others but that's all I remember right now ...

I can't remember all the cars I've had over the years. Always seemed to come back to Buicks although I am a Ford guy. We had several older Buicks, when a car was really a car, most of them were Rivearas. Loved the comfy ride and large roomy interior, but as gas got higher, the situation started to change.

Had a few Chevys, ok I guess. Never could get into Mopars. Towards the end of my trading every 5 minutes, I drove a Toyota Tercel until the fenders were actually rotting off. Drove it to work, at night, for 13 years and it never let me down once. Mama always had the nice cars as she had to go to college part-time and also work.

Enclosed is a pic of my car now.......(not)

Sorry. Can't list all the vehicles I've had over the years ..... server capacity wouldn't cope. ;)

My first was a '34 Dodge with independent front suspension, a wind-out windscreen (air-conditioning), and a hand throttle (cruise control).

Latest dozen or so have been Toyotas, currently a Kluger (Highlander) AWD. Biased towards Toyota because of my long experience in the vehicle repair business.

PS: Sadly, large American cars seemed to disappear from our imported list way back, maybe late sixties (from memory). :(
