Men with terrible beards

I don't know. I always considered that really long beard as a hermit's look. It's nature's way of saying "Do not touch".

I had a beard for a while, it was more grief than it was worth. A beard is OK if it doesn't look like it's a nest made by vermin. I don't know why but beards come and go all through out history. The Egyptians were clean shaven, but made false beards. The Romans were clean shaven. For some reason, every guy shaves ,then in later period, grows a beard.???????

I guess they get tired of the every day shaving thing. Just don't want to anymore.

A short well kept beard makes a man look good. However, "swamp man" and "cave man" beards are bad. Makes me wonder if they ever wash those beards? Makes me wonder what sort of vermin lives in them. Sex appeal? You must be kidding!

I've worn a beard for more than 20 years. Like Gary O', I wash my hair and beard every day. Frankly I don't care what women think of my facial hair, I like it and I will keep it.

Both my sons started to go bald in their 20's and decided to shave the lot off. One son decided to grow a beard a few years ago and got a shock to see all the grey hairs which made him look older. He shaved it all off.

I hate to be judgemental. Would I ever have facial hair? No. Never have, never will. Unruly or not, I prefer the clean look. But if someone wants to go crazy, go crazy.

My father was bald by 18. I lived my youth waiting for the horrible day when I lost my hair too. It was a real fear. Now here I am, and I still have a full head of hair. Ironically, it's quite annoying now. I have to get it cut every now and again, wash it in the shower, etc. It's WORK and no-one cares what I look like.

Once I told the barber to just get rid of it all. I had myself shaved bald. It was a huge mistake, and I looked a lot like that guy who sang in Bad Manners. It was horrific, and I had to live with it for weeks while it grew back. Right now my damn hair is near touching my shoulders again because I've been too lazy to get it cut. I'm going to be forced to see a barber soon.

Not much. I give them £20, and they're happy. I have a "number two on the sides and back, keep the center parting". Very, very boring. And the same since the 1970's.

Long hair? Lovely. Pics please.

Can you imagine? If long hair is all it took, I'd have a harem. As it is, not close.

I love clean, well groomed facial hair on men. NO to scratchy stubble. On some men, especially young ones, it looks kinda hot. But that doesn't mean I want to get up close and personal with it!

I never had a beard, so I guess I shouldn't comment, but I don't like beards on men that look unkept, too long and not brushed or combed.

Being in the military for 30 years, sort of put the dampers on having or growing a beard.

I've worn a beard and mustache for most of my adult life - fairly short during the summer and a bit longer in winter. It's my preference. Personally, I make it a point not to judge what others, men and women, choose to do with their hair. Like everyone else, I find some styles more attractive than others (and I've seen a lot of unusual ones through the years) but I don't presume to criticize another's tastes in fashion.

Exactly! And right on too. If some man takes care of his beard, he is conscious of his health and cleanliness. Sex appeal, I don't know about that if the beard is not well kept. Most likely not.

Please don't shave it off!

That said, if you do decide to shave it off and go with just the mustache, you'll still look great.
