Metal Nail Files

Today I’m stewing about the lack of quality in nail files. Obviously I just bought some today and they’re junk. It doesn’t seem to matter if I buy the metal ones or the emery boards, they’re all poor quality. I haven’t found a decent metal nail file in years.

The nail clippers aren’t much better.

Even though I’ve tried them, I’ve never cared for a professional manicure for several reasons so that’s not an alternative for me.
Glass nail files are great.

My Revlon clippers are very sharp .. of course, I had the old one's for probably a decade!
I have a manicure set made in Germany that have lasted forever.
This is the brand I was going to recommend. I buy all Revlon. My choice of fingernail clippers are Gem, if you can find them. They are very sharp and don’t tear the nail off. They last for a number of years. I also use Revlon nail files or emery boards. I like trimming my nails right after a shower. It softens them.

I've got a few metal files in the garage. Once in awhile, if I break a nail, working on the car or lawn-mower, I'll use one of those files to smooth it out. Works for me. If in the house, I'll use ones of my wife's.

Regarding manicures (haha) . I can't imagine what my dad or grand-dad would have said if I mentioned a manicure. They probably wouldn't have been able to say anything 'til they stopped laughing.

I just ordered a box of emery boards from Amazon, they are too coarse and too thick to get under the nail.....I'll try some of the suggestions here next time.

My mother sold real estate for a while when I was in high school. Apparently, she had about 1,000 or more of those emery boards made up w/her name and # on them to give to her clients.
I just found the box, so now I've got emery boards coming out of my ears...lol

One my gfriends gave me one of those glass ones, it's so pretty.
Haven't used it yet.

I’m trying a glass nail file again. It really doesn’t seem to do a great job for me. My nails are hard and grow fast. I end up trimming them after 8-9 days.

What type of filing stroke do most people use? I was taught that you filed upward from each side, not a sawing motion back and forth on the sides. I

I never went for pro manicure after two disasters. One I specifically said that nails had to be square for strength. Unfortunately, she didn't even speak English so after three fingers, I got up and left.

If my nails are rounded or oval shaped, they break. Have a condition brought on by a heart attack while inside Mother. It caused the nail beds to be extremely short. The only way to keep my nails strong is to keep them cut straight across.

Second time, one offered permanent nails in acrylics. According to the doctor, which I had to visit two days after application, she reduced my nails to paper and didn't dilute the solution properly and I suffered an allergic reaction.

I had rubber finger puppets for a fortnight before my nail regrew. I then had another couple of weeks applying nutritive solution to get strength back in my nails and fingers.

It was fun to type at work during those two months.

I use my own clippers (which I get out of Boots pharmacy) and rounded nail files from Body Care shop.

Sorry for the skeletal hand look, I've inherited double joints in my fingers. It was useful for piano practice 😂😂😂
