Mexican Drug Cartels and the DEA.

I have just watched a TV programme, I don't know how
old it was, but it claimed that the DEA was working with
Mexican Drug Cartels!

They, the programme, claimed that the DEA supplied arms
to various drug cartels in the hope that they would kill each
other off.

This I find a strange way to combat drugs.

Why, if the Mexican Authorities were working with them, did
they not come to an agreement and use small Napalm bombs
on the plantations where the drugs are grown?

There seems to be plenty of "Intel" about these drug farms
and I think that it is possible.

Again I might be wrong and for some reason my thoughts
may be "Way Off".

Mike.

Most of the guns used by the Mexican Drug Cartels seem to be of U.S. origin. There appears to be quite a black market for these weapons to flow across the border. This is the basis for the "Fast and Furious" scandal that has been ongoing now for several years. Both the DEA and the ATF have come under scrutiny in recent years, but unfortunately, nothing much appears to be happening to stem this flow of weapons. There is such a huge amount of money involved in this drug trafficking that it is Not beyond the realm of possibility that bureaucrats and officials on Both sides of the border may well be "looking the other way".

The cartels basically run the country, and it wouldn't surprise me in the least to discover that DEA (probably backed by CIA) would be doing something that crazy.

I really don't think those guys NEED any more guns, though - they already have the best money can buy.

I am one who thinks the DEA has outlived it's usefulness and the amounts of money the agency spends.
