Michigan pastor under fire for telling congregation to get COVID-19 and 'get it over with'

HOLLAND, Mich. — A Holland pastor’s comments on COVID-19, shared on Facebook late last week, were condemned by residents who said the comments were “irresponsible.”

During a Nov. 14 sermon, Bart Spencer, senior pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church, encouraged his congregation to contract the virus to “get it over with.”

Apparently, it never occurred to him that what they might be getting over with was their lives? Aren't things bad enough? Do we need people who are basically authority figures making such irresponsible comments?

Yeah. I'd be a former member, too. "Former" being the operative word.

I read that he started coughing during the sermon. Maybe that’s what prompted the comment?
