Microchipping Humans

It's not the specific procedure of being microchipped that I find appalling, it's the absolute loss of control over my privacy that bothers me. I've read articles over the years about microchips that could contain all of one's medical information. In essence, we would be carrying our own medical record with us wherever we went. No need to ask for copies of reports or permission to send documents from one provider to another. In theory, it could work but like anything else, it could be hacked and put one's identity and their most private information in the wrong hands.

So my vote is NO.

My vote is also NO. The whole losing privacy is one thing, but the fact that this procedure seems to be adding too much of a computer aspect to a human being. I feel if this is done this is only the first step to having more to come.

I would consider it.

It would be great if it allowed faster medical treatment or helped to locate a missing child, adult with dementia, etc…

It could even be used in place of a credit card, driver’s license, hold your arrest record, voter registration, etc…

I suppose we could prevent hacking by wrapping our finger in aluminum foil.

I won't get one but so long as it's a personal choice , but I don't care what other people do. I can see the value for certain life-threatening medical conditions such as severe tonic clonic seizures that chips could detect early onset. Can also see the value for vulnerable people such as dementia patients.

Do think people who choose not to ever get a chip should have non-discriminatory protection along the lines of Title VI since it goes beyond an 'on the job' issue to what amounts to 24/7 surveillance if a hacker gets into the system or has a device that picks up on the chip when people are out and about in their private lives. And regardless of what 'safeguards' anyone might say they have in place, no one can assure protection against hackers.

I can see some advantage to this idea, for emergency medical purposes. However, I tend to value my "privacy", also....so I doubt that I would have much interest in being implanted with a device that can track my every move.

My Medic Alert bracelet has a brief synopsis of my main medical conditions engraved on it, along with a 1-800 phone number that connects to the 24 hour contact office. My OHIP card has a information stripe on it that can be read by any Ontario hospital emergency department, or by Paramedics in the field. My cat has a micro chip in her neck /shoulder area that a Vet can scan to get her medical information. After her recent dental work ( three thousand bucks worth ) I now call her the 6 thousand dollar cat. JimB.

Ah, ain't gonna happen. Can you imagine, right now the anti this & that folks are losing their minds over wearing a mask(a sensible way to protect themselves) and getting vaccines(a sensible way to protect themselves). They try to over-through the government over imaginary grievances, the resistance to something actually taking their individual freedom would be enormous.

Agreed. We can't get some to wear a paper mask during a pandemic. Do you really think they are going to line up to get chipped with enslaving, mind alerting, space alien ordered, CIA secret, Russian, Chinese, liberal, Illuminata inspired, gay causing, sex changing, chips?

My step-son and step-daughter used this as an excuse to not get the Covid vaccine. They believed it was a way for everyone to be "tracked" because they implanted a chip in your body. I guess they don't think carrying around a cell phone isn't a way of tracking???

Do they also believe in the tooth fairy, and the Easter bunny? I shake my head at such lunacy in otherwise sane adults. Jimb.

Yes, those who are attached to their cell phone, 24/7, are constantly "tracked". When I had to get a "smartphone", a few months ago, I spent some time turning off virtually every "Ap". I did leave the Location function turned on, and the 911 call option active, so if we had a wreck, and I was able to use the phone, the First Responders could find us. However, since the only time that phone is turned on is when we leave the house, the trackers only "follow" us a few hours a month.

Yeah I heard that Bill Gates wanted everyone to be microchipped so he would know what everyone was doing and where. Got a good laugh out of that one.

Worse case scenario - getting your finger or hand chopped off by crooks, in order to access your bank account.
