Mollie Tibbetts, missing Iowa student, found dead

Were he not here illegally, she would be alive. I'd say that's pretty important.
I agree with Ray. In this particular case, if he were not here in this country, like he should not have been (because he didn't go through the proper channels to become a U.S. citizen) she would still be alive.
It's unfortunately the truth of this case, separate it, if you will, but it's a cold, hard fact.
Mollie's death is a senseless, horrific tragedy, whether she was murdered by an illegal immigrant or a U.S. citizen.
Facts are facts, and why do we have immigration laws if they are not to be enforced.
There is "one", precious life, that would have, could have been saved.

Yes, we have to enforce immigration laws. No one is disputing that.

But the crime happened because he was a vicious killer, not because he was an immigrant (documented or otherwise). What if a legally documented immigrant had committed this murder? Would that make it somehow
not quite as awful a crime? Is the significant part of this his legal documentation, or the fact that he was a killer?

Here's a question for you to ponder: What if all those American-born killers had not been able to get their hands (legally!) on guns, bombs, grenades, etc? Or poison to put in the Kool-Aid? All of their victims would be alive also! So, using your same logic, the sale of those items should be ended at once. Think of all the crimes that would not occur.

If Jim Jones had not founded a "religious" cult and poisoned his followers with Kool-Aid, 918 people would be alive. 304 of them were children.

If Eric Harris had not been in Columbine, 13 students would be alive.

If Nikolas Cruz had not been in Parkland, FL, 17 students would be alive. (He was American-born.)

If John Wayne Garcy had not been the "Killer Clown" in Chicago, 33 children would not have been buried in his basement.

If Ted Bundy had not been in various states of the U.S. when he was, over 30 victims would be alive.

If Charles Manson had not been here to start his "family," 9 victims would be alive.

And the list goes on.

Stepping back and looking at the big picture, how important is the immigration status of Mollie Tibbett's (suspected) killer?

Using that logic & those examples....how important is the gun?

It is true that there are many people that go missing each day. Some just walkaway from their life for different reasons. When a child goes missing, law enforcement is more likely to jump into action to try and find the child because according to national crime statistics, the first 3-4 hours are the most important. Normally, once the abductor has snatched the child, he will take the child to an already pre-planned place, do what he is going to do with the child and then most likely, kill the child. It all happens within just a few hours. This is the main reason why the Amber Alert was started.

Florida, OTOH, has an alert named, Silver Alert, used when an elderly person walks (drives) away from a nursing home or maybe an elderly person that walked away from their usual living residence without giving notice. Over the years, we have noticed an increase in college kids going missing. Most show up later giving various reasons for their disappearance, but probably the number one reason that I have heard is that they no longer could take the stress of having to live up to their parent's expectations of being number one on campus. It may sound like a silly reason to so many others, but when you listen to some of these kids tell their stories, it is sometimes heartbreaking.

I am sorry that Mollie's parents has to endure the pain, but as someone has already posted, they did find her. Many others aren't so lucky. Even when the presumed or suspected abductor is captured, they won't give up the place where they "dumped" the body. According to psychiatrists, they do this so that they can stay in control of the situation, which personally, I don't get. Ted Bundy was notable for doing this, until his execution date drew near and then he started to tell all in an effort to avoid or delay his trip to meet "Old Sparky."

If I were a lady, I wouldn't venture out of the house without having a container of Pepper Spray, or Mace handy. With all the lunatics out there, a woman out in an environment where there aren't several people around, is almost becoming a target for these rapists and killers.

Which is why I always carry a small aerosol pepper spray, even when just walking my dog around the block. I used to feel confident walking my dogs just after dark in the summertime, but no more. It's sad that we have to live like this, but we do, if we want to be safe.

Apparently the suspect had stalked at least one other girl before he killed Tibbetts. Either he is/was a future serial killer or Tibbetts was just another victim.

Also the killer had worked under a fake name

http://www.kcrg.com/content/news/Ma...-murder-worked-under-fake-name-491508231.html

So basically this is criminal who escalated from a less lethal offense of entering the US illegally probably doing business or hanging with criminal smugglers, gangs etc, committing the crime of fraud, stalked women and eventually killing at least one. This one reason many smaller crimes need more attention, follow up etc.
