Monday's Child.........

The "What time were you born" thread reminded me about the poem
that we were told when young so that we would know what kind of
person we were going to be.

Monday's child is fair of face.
Tuesday's child is full of grace.
Wednesday's child is full of woe.
Thursday's child has far to go.
Friday's child is loving and giving.
Saturday's child works hard for a living.
The child that is born on the Sabbath day
is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.

I've known that ditty all of my life. It runs through my head automatically whenever someone says what day they were born.

It's a nonsense poem of course.. . ..except for Sundays', (when I was born)... :ROFLMAO:

Another Thursday's child.

In the 1887 version of the Monday’s Child poem published in Harper’s Weekly magazine, it is actually Thursday’s child “who works hard for a living”, with Saturday’s child having “far to go”.

I'm not sure if the meaning of far to go is positive or negative.

Some folks believe it means we will have a long successful life and others believe it means we will have to overcome many obstacles.

Whatever it means I have always enjoyed that little poem.

Friday's child is me and it's true but you so get burned when you're loving and giving.
