Mr Bates vs The Post Office

Has anyone watched this drama?

We recently watched and were very disturbed by such huge injustice. How on earth was this allowed to blight so many lives?
I am glad justice is now being served.

Yes, Rose, I watched it, and like many thousands of other viewers, I found myself shouting at the telly at the disgraceful and abusive way these fine people were treated.

It beggars belief that those at the top of the Post Office were not aware of the wicked injustice metered out to loyal servants of the organisation.
I don't believe that it was down to a computer 'glitch' either, because human beings program computers and I would expect a huge company like the Post Office to have the best top expert computer technicians, so I wonder, was there a person or persons who were deliberately filching money from the honest Postmasters.

I do hope that all the facts will emerge and those responsible suffer with long prison sentences, and the Postmaster victims receive proper and full compensation.

Everybody knew about this when it was happening,
a Sub-Post Master in a local village in Cornwall told
me that he was really worried about the happenings
with the new Computer System, that he was still using
a ledger with the computer, both at the same time, all
of his customers accepted that the transactions were
going to take a bit longer, but they didn't mind, he
did suggest that anyone who didn't like his methods,
could go up to the main Post Office in the town and
wait in a queue for a while, to get served.

The Government knew, the Post Office Minister, Sir
Ed Davey, knew about something and according to
the press, 15 times, he rejected approaches from Sub-
Post Masters, who were being accused of theft.

He should be held responsible, as should the CEO of
the service, both should do some Jail Time, for arrogance,
the CEO, says that she will hand back her award, a CBE,
that is nothing, people have been in jail, at least one
committed suicide and 700 hundred lost their business
and their reputations, also others have died, possible of
broken hearts.

A TV programme should never have been needed to shake
up the system, little people don't seem to matter, in some
cases.

Actually it was Alan Bates, who worked as a sub-postmaster at a post office in Llandudno, and is portrayed by Toby Jones in the show. He spent 20 years campaigning for people to hear the truth about what happened and even took the Post Office to court.
