Mrow means canned cat food

No, I'm not a crazy, 70 year old guy with 38 cats. I'm the crazy, old guy with one cat, Fuzzy. I am disabled and mostly house bound, so I spend a lot of time with Fuzzy. I've learned that Fuzzy's "meows" sound differently and mean things. Like when he meows rather loudly, it means he has to go outside. There's also a shortened meow that sounds like, "mrow"; which I've come to learn means canned cat food. Dry cat food gets a regular "meow". I'm sure other pet owners know what other meows and barks mean.

Some may say that I'm crazy about cat 'meows'. Well, I'm not. I have to wear this tin foil hat because just yesterday, when I was talking to Big Foot, I was abducted by space aliens......AGAIN!:D
 

I know what you mean, FuzBud. Our new cat Mr. Midnight (I call him "Mao") is only perhaps 6 months old, yet already I'm picking up on his different vocalizations. He only seems to have one for food, but several for "I want to play", I want to lay down" and "I want to park my furry butt on your face while you're sleeping".

I won't go into detail about that last one ... :upset:

For us that's a dog, the cats want to curl on your chest or merrily dash on the headboard dropping books and whatnot on the sleeping humans. Other silly dog trick, sleeping on your face. You wake with a vaguely suffocated feeling and someone snoring in your ear.

But yes our cats have different chirps for everything from " That feels amazing, let me drool on you" to " If you don't tell her to put me down I'm not responsible".

I once had a cat who clearly enunciated "Tu-na" when he wanted some, and only then.

Freaked me out. :eek:
 
It's certainly possible. When cats "meow" they're speaking to humans. They don't meow to each other. They hiss, they growl, they snarl, but never do they meow at another cat. So when furbaby meows at you he/she is definitely trying to communicate with you. It's sweet isn't it?
 
Both dogs and cats are clever , After all can a human tell when another may be going to have a seizure ,sniff out drugs ,fruit and veg the list go's on , Cats have warned owners of house fires !I believe it was a few months ago a child was about to be attacked by a dog and his cat ran out of the house and saved the child from the dog I wil see if I can find any reference to it And post if I can find it ..

I like dogs as long as somebody else owns them, Ill settle for the 4 cats for their cleanness and no clean up after.
But I hate it when 3 of these cats want to lie on my lap together, I swear they are all gay.:)
 
Hubby would swear on a stack of bibles that he hates cats...but who makes sure to buy a big bag of cat yummies every week? Some nights I'll pass by the living room, one cat across his lap and another on the back of the chair.
 
Oh, BTW, I forgot the most important meow. It's the " I'm gonna cough up the grossest thing you've ever seen" meow.
And the "mee-out" thing. I had a cat, Mikey, who could say "go out", but it was meow-you know what I mean. I was talking on the phone to my girlfriend and Mikey was at the door. He meowed, "go out". My girlfriend said, "Who's there?". I said nobody. She said, "Well SOMEBODY said "Go out". Now, you try telling your girlfriend its the cat talking. Later, Mikey did in front of her, so I was saved.
