Murderers only serving 20 to 30 years! Is that enough?

Well... Ralphy... Thank you for your service. You were called and had to go. Being female of my age I was not required to register for the draft.. HOWEVER.. I gave birth to a son who has served TWO tours in the Middle East.. One for the first invasion of Afghanistan... and the second for the invasion of Iraq.. You can thank me for providing a portion of the cannon fodder.

Ever since the Gulf war we have had UN support to settle down the leader and folks in Iraq. Then we were asked to leave and most of us did. Now Iraq and other areas over there are completely torn up and lots of killing is going on from the runaway military that answers to no country and keeps spreading and killing innocent civilians where ever they are. The US and lots of other countries that do believe in religious freedom and rights to stay alive should be putting good work into defeating those calling themselves ISIS.

I use us as one who does believe in the US and have no shame in admitting it.

I don't know. The Manson murderers come up for parole and they are still in prison. Certain crimes are "an" act and other crimes are planned, malicious and/or cold blooded.

I, for one, consider those Manson killings, to be evil, criminal, cold blooded. Why shouldn't they stay in jail for life themselves?

The Manson followers/murderers yes. The only reason I would even consider parole for them besides a lot of time served is that most of them did it when they relatively young. That being said their adult life has been that of a cult member and prisoner. Are they really ready for life in mainstream society. They might be really changed in their minds but they also voluntarily chose to follow Manson and do what he said. Certain decisions one makes in life have lifetime consequences.

They should never be paroled. What they did was so horrific they should spend the rest of their lives in prison. Period. And as you said, some acts have, or at least should have, lifetime consequences.

One recent parole or release that surprised me was the kid now man who killed/help kill a teacher's husband as a teenager. He probably got a break for being a teen at the time. Killing is a pretty adult act. The Smart case?

Get it thru your heads, there is no such thing as " life sentence in prison", behave yourself, be a model prisoner. follow the rules in prison and you'll be out in between 10 and 20 years.

I don't know most of the Manson murderers are still in prison. True they became eligible after 10-20 years and are still eligible to this day.

And when innocent people are in prisons for decades/30 years I don't think it's as easy to get out in 20 as many think.

Those long termers,30 years plus, for some strange reason get to stay in prison forever because they have a "name" and the media is right on top of it when its their time to get a parole hearing.IMO
