Was the grass taller than the bricks?
Exactly what I was wondering. How did she not destroy the lawn mower blades? From the pic you post, the bricks look completely unscathed. That's a real head scratcher. She must have had the blades set pretty high to miss those bricks. Was the grass taller than the bricks?
Yes.Was the grass taller than the bricks?
You can see from the photo of the cut tree that the grass is still taller than the bricks. She must have had the blades set pretty high to miss those bricks.
Was she maybe trying to weed-whack around the bricks and took the tree down? You can see from the photo of the cut tree that the grass is still taller than the bricks.
I have no way of knowing since I wasn't watching. I assumed HE was doing the work. I only found out his girlfriend did it when he came to collect his fee, but didn't notice the tree was gone than. Was she maybe trying to weed-whack around the bricks and took the tree down?
Save what is the problem? Apple trees grown from pips do not turn out the same fruit type as the original apple.Actually, he should replace the tree. But since you raised it from a baby, you probably would want to try to save it.
True but at least he’s taken responsibility and showing concern. The woman should have asked. It’s clearly marked as being a significant plant. I think your other tree might make it. It will be ridiculously slow growing at first but should take off next year. I’d cover any new growth over the wintertime just to stay on the safe side. Even a heavy dose of mulch will work.I just checked my messages in NextDoor. He did respond apologizing and offering to get a new one. It wouldn't be the tree I raised from seed, though.

You’re right. I did not know that.Save what is the problem? Apple trees grown from pips do not turn out the same fruit type as the original apple.
I have one more of that batch of apples left. When I have another one and it's has sprouting seeds in it, I'll have to take a photo. To my knowledge, I have never eaten an apple with a sprouting seed inside.
I was thinking the same thing - another layer or two of bricks. I still think since the original lawn guy knew about it, he should have told her. I don't know where he was while she was mowing, or why he was letting his girfriend do his work. I don't look out, trusting he's doing his job.Hearing the grass was kind of high, she probably took your poor tree as some kind of weed. I do think a better barrier will be needed in the future.
I suggested a tomato cage, but I've noticed some people will cut an old tire and place it around young trees and put some mulch on the inside of the tire.Hearing the grass was kind of high, she probably took your poor tree as some kind of weed. You should be able to trust them to do their job. Sadly you can't often.I was thinking the same thing - another layer or two of bricks. I agree. And, the leaves of a young apple tree, as opposed to any nuisance type of plant or weed,You should be able to trust them to do their job. Sadly you can't often.
Yep.just interested in getting the mowing done in as little time as possible.
