My Bad and cell phone.......rant.

The first time I heard the word "My bad" was years ago, from my son's music teacher. I just thought it was funny and didn't think anything of it. If someone were to say it now, instead of "sorry," it would not bother me. To me it's slang for an apology.

I also do not use the cell phone. I keep it for emergencies and
turn it on to text my son, and then turn it off. I do not like cell phones. My son's not allowed to bring his cell phone to the table when he's visiting. My rules.

Addiction is a real thing, and we have enough addicts (smoking, drugs, drinking, etc) to keep our mental health providers busy. Cell phone addiction is real, too. They are hijacking our minds and our lives through cell phones. Don't want to be a part of it.

All these places where people are driving and using a cell phone, don’t you have laws against this? We do, not that it means people don’t do it. They do get really stiff fines when the police have a crackdown and catch them.

People using the term My Bad as opposed to excuse me or I'm sorry etc. rubs me raw as does people that are so attached to their cell / I- phones that they can't be two feet from away from it or even go to the bathroom and take care of their business without playing on it.......I actually once saw a fella standing at a urinal and using his cell phone one handed.

Because of playing on his cell phone and not paying attention to where he was going I had a thirties something fella bump into me yesterday going at a pretty good clip at the hardware store and as opposed to just saying I'm sorry or excuse me he said my bad and I started burning inside......I said, "put that dam phone in your pocket and start paying attention to what you're doing". He glared and I glared back then he turned and walked away.

Phew, rant over and I feel all better now. :)
His saying 'my bad', just meant 'my mistake'. Lingo has changed and we should be open to that, IMO. I don't use my cell phone unless I need to make a call, then I step out of the way to do it. But I'm in my late 60s and don't have an intimate relationship with my phone, just initially bought it for emergency reasons.

Lots of people these days are hooked on their phones, some even sleep with them. Mine gets turned on when I take the dog for a walk or go out shopping, when I come home, it gets shut down. Guess I'd rather be bumped into by someone on their cell phone rather than ran into on the highway from someone on their cell phone.....have had a couple of close calls in that area.

Glad you feel better now. ;)
